I would agree on supporting the Ronald McDonald House!

DW, we've fostered a couple of preemies and love the occupation therapists! What a great support that is.

And we're not losing hope. Every day he fights the odds go UP!

Weight is up and has passed his birth weight. (Now 765g)
PICC line is out.
Not intubated.
Holding strong!

Thank you all!

The roller-coaster continues. A good day is followed by a sleepless night.

Another blood transfusion, and more ups and downs.

The little weight gain seems to have been lost again.

But in the big picture, another day older is another day stronger!

When my wife was in the hospital about to have our middle child, his heart rate dropped. I mean it wasn't there. I didn't think much of it and walked out to alert the nurses who came somewhat nonchalantly into the room thinking the monitor had moved. Suddenly my wife is surrounded by nurses and a doctor and she's crying as they try to position my son to get the heart rate picked up again. He's 18 now. Worries me on a regular basis... but I always smile and think about how lucky I am to have him worrying me 18 years later after a scare like that. It probably sounds a bit odd but that's what I'm hoping your family gets to experience. Prayers and thoughts still with your family.

It's funny, just writing about that experience brings tears to my eyes. I can only imagine what your family is going through. Good luck and we're all pulling for the little guy.

We were two weeks into our very expensive hotel room/prenatal stay and after a tentative "thumbs sorta up" for another day at the 0900 ultrasound, a "just checking something" US at 0945 led to our now 6ish girl being hatched by 0955.

Medicine is amazing...

Hanging in there. Mom hasn't left the hospital, even though baby is in good hands. My wife has been with her nearly every day and a lot of the nights.

Thank you for sharing that. It brought tears to my eyes as well.

23 years ago my first wife was expecting our third child. During one of the later ultrasounds things just didn't seem 'right' so they dug deeper. It turned out that my baby girl had a growth in her chest that had kept her lungs from forming. I guess I don't have to tell the rest of the story and what happened after she was born without lungs.

Anyway...

All things work together for good! And my experiences, good and bad, have made me the person I am today.

Some good news in the up and down battle.

We've crossed the 2lb mark!

Could realistically still be 10 more weeks in the NICU, but he's on the right track!

This thread amazes me. I had no idea how small a premee could be. Simply amazing. Best wishes to baby and family.

It's been a tough few days. Another transfusion and they have had to decrease his feelings. Added sodium to try and get his electrolights in balance has caused him to retain fluid and puts additional stress on his heart. At 1150g now but that is expected to drop as they get control of the fluid. Also a PDA that is now being treated with tylenol.
So much going on.
But in the end, another day is a good day.

Thanks for listening!
