NGK Resistor Spark Plug Cap XD05F black (8072)
https://www.gsparkplug.com/1x-ngk-resistor-spark-plug-cap-xd05f-black-8072.html

Quote:
NGK XD05F (BLACK) / 8072 Spark Plug Cap Genuine NGK Component

Featuring a resistor element pressed in between the plug terminal and the high tension wire connection, the construction is extremely durable, the resistor element is long enough to prevent interior flashover, and steady resistance is maintained. Superlative ceramic materials are incorporated that resist deterioration and have small resistance variation under over-load, whilst the plug connector is made of sturdy phenolic resin, practically oblivious to tremendous heat and high tension, and very rugged rubber material. The heat press insertion makes the construction all the more tough and vibration-resistant. Special rubber liners on both ends prevent moisture from causing electrical leakage.

This is the # 972 at the Smithsonian Air and Space museum. This airplane gets all the attention because she is front and center. This is the same one that made the 64 minute trip from Los Angeles to Washington DC on March 6, 1990.

A B-29 Superfortress bomber with recon mission markings from Korean war is surrounded by its crew who wear B-15A flight jackets, A-2 leather flight jackets.
The Boeing B-29 Superfortress is an American four-engined propeller-driven heavy bomber designed by Boeing and flown primarily by the United States during World War II and the Korean War. Named in allusion to its predecessor, the B-17 Flying Fortress, the Superfortress was designed for high-altitude strategic bombing but also excelled in low-altitude night incendiary bombing and in dropping naval mines to blockade Japan. B-29s dropped the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and became the only aircraft that has ever used nuclear weapons in combat.
One of the largest aircraft of World War II, the B-29 had state-of-the-art technology, including a pressurized cabin, dual-wheeled, tricycle landing gear, and an analog computer-controlled fire-control system that allowed one gunner and a fire-control officer to direct four remote machine gun turrets. The $3 billion cost of design and production (equivalent to $43 billion today), far exceeding the $1.9 billion cost of the Manhattan Project, made the B-29 program the most expensive of the war.
The B-29's advanced design allowed it to remain in service in various roles throughout the 1950s. The type was retired in the early 1960s after 3,970 of them had been built. A few were used as flying television transmitters by the Stratovision company. The Royal Air Force flew the B-29 as the Washington until 1954.
The B-29 was the progenitor of a series of Boeing-built bombers, transports, tankers, reconnaissance aircraft and trainers. The re-engined B-50 Superfortress became Lucky Lady II, the first aircraft to fly around the world non-stop, during a 94-hour flight in 1949. The Boeing C-97 Stratofreighter airlifter, which was first flown in 1944, was followed in 1947 by its commercial airliner variant, the Boeing Model 377 Stratocruiser. This bomber-to-airliner derivation was similar to the B-17/Model 307 evolution. In 1948, Boeing introduced the KB-29 tanker, followed in 1950 by the Model 377-derivative KC-97. A line of outsized-cargo variants of the Stratocruiser is the Guppy / Mini Guppy / Super Guppy, which remain in service with NASA and other operators. The Soviet Union produced 847 Tupolev Tu-4s, an unlicensed reverse-engineered copy of the aircraft. Twenty B-29s remain as static displays but only two, FIFI and Doc, still fly.

Febuary 5th 1962; A Convair B-58 Hustler aka the "Delta Queen"(serial no. 59-2458) of the Forty-third Bombardment Wing smashes a few aeronautical world records by flying from Los Angeles to New York, then back in 4 hours 41 min 14.98 seconds, with the fastest transcontinental crossing between LA and NYC in 2 hours 58.71 seconds at an average blistering speed of 1,214.65 mph.
All that, and she's pretty too!

I used to have a model of the B-58 when I was in grade school. I still think it's cool! I had these ready to post. Now seems good.

Here's What You Need To Remember: Although an engineering marvel, the Hustler suffered from an appalling accident rate, high maintenance costs, and an obsolete mission profile. It would remain in service for only a decade, a dead-end in strategic bomber development.

Maintenance crews reported that for every hour the B-58 flew, it took 35 hours of maintenance.

Military AI vanquishes human fighter pilot in F-16 simulation. How scared should we be?
https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/military-ai-vanquishes-human-fighter-pilot-f-16-simulation-how-ncna1238773?icid=related

Quote:
From the outside, the simulated aerial dogfight the Pentagon held two weeks ago looked like a standard demonstration of close-up air-to-air combat as two F-16 fighter jets barreled through the sky, twisting and diving as they sought an advantage over the other. Time and time again the jets would “merge,” with one or both pilots having just split seconds to pull off an accurate shot. After one of the jets found itself riddled with cannon shells five times in these confrontations, the simulation ended.
