I never realized the B-29 was built like a glider with twice the hp. It makes sense for flying higher and faster than any jap fighter.
The wing loading must be enormous.

The Ingenuity robotic helicopter took this incredible aerial photo of Mars recently. You can see the helicopter’s shadow with the Perseverance rover in the distance (top left of the image). The aircraft, the first to take off from another planet, has been operating now for 730 days, surpassing its mission objective of 30 days!

They were lucky to do so, though, as the Model S promptly caught fire, eventually burning down to the wheels. According to the Morris Township fire company, its two tankers quickly put 4,000 gallons (15,141 liters) of water on the car, but found that was insufficient to quell the blaze.

Additional tankers were called from three other fire departments and a total of 12,000 gallons (45,425 liters) of water were required to put out the fire. That’s considerably more than a normal car fire, which can take as little as 500 gallons (1,893 liters) to put out, according to the fire department.

I don't know about you guys, but looking at the pics above at the end of the fire, I don't think the guys put the fire out. It looks to me more like the fire burned itself out. I feel like all they did with the 12,000 gals of water was keep the road from being damaged as much as if they'd just watched.

I Wouldn't it be ironic if his batteries caught fire and his leaf went up in smoke. Not that I'm wishing that on anyone...

According to a Facebook post from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, the Tesla had been sitting in a wrecking yard for three weeks while waiting to be dismantled after an accident.

"The vehicle was fully involved with fire on arrival, and took a significant amount of time, water, and thinking outside the box to extinguish," the post said.

When firefighters arrived on the scene this month, they repeatedly extinguished the fire but the car kept reigniting.

The Tesla was placed on its side so crews could gain access to the battery compartment.

Even with direct penetration, the vehicle would still re-ignite due to the residual heat," the post said.

The crews decided to create a small pit filled with water to submerge the Tesla in and extinguish the fire.

"The pit ultimately reduced the total amount of water needed, estimated at 4,500 gallons," the post said.
