RCA engineer Bob Flint checks out the video tape recorder that was launched aboard the Skylab Orbital Workshop on May 14, 1973. It served the needs of the three astronaut crews who occupied the workshop during successive visits that year. The transport contained 2,000 feet of two-inch wide tape, and provided home viewers with color TV coverage of the crewmen and their activities. The 100-pound unit was built by RCA Government Communications Systems in Camden, NJ. State of the art at the time.
