Leaving it all at the track!

Extremely rare atmospheric phenomenon called rainbow bridge or circumhorizontal arc: when the sun is at least 58º above horizon and ice crystals in clouds form rainbows.

I stopped that darn brake squeal!

Looks like he might be worried about his junk.

I just saw that was at Lion's which was just west of me. top fuel kept getting noisier and that contributed to the demise. That and land value. In those days the economics are not what they are today.

One bit of tornado trivia, that monster storm could have 300+ MPH winds and be off the scale powerful, but if it stays in the desert and then goes away it will not be rated as more than a F0. The F scale is based on the actual damage, and if no structural damage is done, it is not rated as a monster. An F5 can strip a well built hose completely off the foundations, and leave nothing but a bare concrete slab.

Remember, always use the pushing stick!

Blattnerphone steel tape recorder, an early magnetic recording technology, developed by Dr. Kurt Stille and Louis Blattner in 1924, at BBC studios, used to record programs for rebroadcast in Empire countries. The recording tape was 3mm wide and 0.08 mm thick, and traveled at 1.5 meters / second. It was limited to voice programs as it did not have the fidelity to record music.

For those who haven't seen one before.....a cutaway of the mighty (British) Napier Deltic opposed piston, 2-stroke diesel engine. They were used in locomotives, boats, and FDNY's Super Pumper fire pump. Three crankshafts, 9 or 18 cylinders depending on model, and the 18 cylinder version was good for over 2000hp for short bursts. I think the continuous rated output was about 1800hp, with a 1000 hour life expectancy between overhauls.

In 1947, Art Lacey purchased a B-17 bomber for $13,000 and flew it from Oklahoma to Troutdale. He then disassembled it, transported it covertly, and placed it atop his 48-pump gas station.

Look how treacherous travel was in 1878 among Oxen and horse-drawn covered wagons traveling up the Ute Pass in El Paso County, CO. The dirt road is supported only by a rock wall with log guardrails. Notice the guy in the middle standing on the cliff and the other one near the bottom sitting on the rail.

This one is off, they need huge lip implants to be accurate.

Hoba is the largest meteorite found on Earth.
The stone is located in Namibia, Africa. It fell to Earth about 80 thousand years ago, its mass after the fall was 90 tons.
The Hoba meteorite, short for Hoba West, is a meteorite that lies on the farm of the same name, not far from Grootfontein, in the Otjozondjupa Region of Namibia. It has been uncovered, but because of its large mass, has never been moved from where it fell. The main mass is estimated at more than 60 tonnes.

Raniero Borg was diving off Malta when he encountered a salp. Often mistaken for jellyfish, salps grow remarkably fast – reaching maturity in just 48 hours, being capable of increasing their body length by up to 10% per hour.

Looks like something out of Sci-Fi movie: Instead of using a device in front of the vehicle to clear mines, the Minenräumer itself rolled over and exploded the mines. Passing overhead, the Minenräumer would detonate any mines and clear a path for troops and vehicles behind it.

They also need cell phones.

I'm guessing driving that thing was on assignment, not voluntary.

Great commuter vehicle!

The creator of this had to come from Texas (I'll bet the pic doesn't work)
