Haha, learning to fly in Wellington would make everything you ever saw since then look easy. Good on you.

I live in one of those houses on the beachfront towards the left of the image so I can walk to the airport easily.

Learnt to fly in Victa Airtourers with Wellington Aero Club from this strip in 1967! Lived over the hill across the harbour in Johnsonville. Had to catch the train and bus to the airport because I was too young to drive, but had my PPL!
Windy? I remember taking off from one end of the runway, climbing to 1000' and doing a touch and go on the other end. That was in a demo Champion Citabria.
Just to make sure that I get your drift. The theory being that it was so windy that you made no forward progress against the wind, essentially taking off, climbing, descending and then doing a touch and go all within the span of the runway against the wind? (sorry, non-pilot, but I think that's what you meant, just want to be sure, and yes, I'm sure that there's a little hyperbole in your statement)

My mom had some of those. She made us popcicles that were never as good as store bought ones, but lots cheaper.

I remember back in 1967 watching TV, and listening to the radio for any hint school was closed when we had an ice storm. There was no mention of a closings. So we hopped on our bicycles and headed to school. The ice made bike riding difficult, and I would crach, and just slide along. Get up and go again. We got to school, and it was closed.

The mass of the supermassive black hole TON 618 is thought to be about 40 billion times that of the Sun. Furthermore, it is *much* bigger than our solar system. Our entire solar system, from the Sun to the far-off Oort Cloud, would disappear under the gravitational pull of TON 618, which has a diameter of 30–40 times that of the solar system's outermost reaches.

An advertisement from 1964. It's a good thing texting wasn't around with that rotary dial.

Mom had a Dart wagon in the 60s with a phone. No idea why. Just like this, but dark metallic blue. I remember power windows because mom rolled up the back window on my head.
