The Porsche Type 912 flat-12—engineering mastery behind the legendary Porsche 917! Originally a 4.5L, later expanded to 5.0L, this powerhouse dominated endurance racing in the early 1970s, securing Porsche's first Le Mans victory in 1970. With air-cooled precision and insane power, the 917 became an icon of speed and innovation!

The Hula Hoop craze of the 1950s took off thanks to a discovery made in Bartlesville, Oklahhoma.
In 1951, scientists J. Paul Hogan and Robert L. Banks at Phillips Petroleum Company developed polypropylene and high-density polyethylene—two plastics that revolutionized everyday products. First introduced to the market as Marlex polyethylene in 1954, this material quickly found its way into food containers, toys, furniture, carpeting, and even basketball backboards.
But it was the Hula Hoop that put Marlex in the spotlight! When the toy became a nationwide sensation, demand for the plastic skyrocketed, using up Phillips Petroleum’s entire supply for nearly six months. Over time, Marlex became a go-to material for baby bottles, shatterproof containers, and countless household items.
What started as a breakthrough in Bartlesville has since grown into a multibillion-dollar industry, shaping the world in more ways than one! the Hula Hoop craze of the 1950s took off thanks to a discovery made right here in Bartlesville?

If you tighten the nut on the end of the threaded rod with the hexagonal head, then wouldn't that make it a "bolt" with a "nut" rather than a rivet?

Had the good fortune to see this car up close several years ago when it was being serviced at a local shop.

Japanese girls training for the anticipated invasion of mainland Japan, 1945. Imagine the carnage if the US invaded Japan. It would have been millions killed.

Boss 302, made about 380hp and it's installed in a Maverick. It's a pump gas engine.

Orion's Belt, one of the most recognizable asterisms in the night sky, is part of the constellation Orion and consists of three bright stars: Alnitak, Alnilam, and Mintaka. These stars are nearly equally spaced in a line as seen from Earth.
Alnitak (ζ Orionis), the easternmost star in Orion's Belt, is a triple star system approximately 1,260 light-years from Earth. The primary star, Alnitak Aa, is a blue supergiant and the brightest class O star in the night sky.
Alnilam (ε Orionis), the central star, is a blue supergiant around 2,000 light-years away. It is the brightest of the three stars and the fourth-brightest in the Orion constellation.
Mintaka (δ Orionis), the westernmost star, is a six-star system located about 1,200 light-years away and is closest to the celestial equator. It is a multiple-star system composed of three spectroscopic components.
These stars are hot, luminous blue supergiants. Although they appear close to each other in the sky, they are at varying distances from Earth. The stars of Orion's Belt are several times more massive than the sun and thousands or tens of thousands of times brighter. Together, the ten stars of these three systems possess a luminosity approximately 970,000 times that of the Sun.

Those tip calculations are wildly off (over double) - they're probably counting on the fact that most folks are unable to figure out a 20% tip and simply pay it.

That was my first thought, how do you tighten a rivet?

Here is a photo of a Cherry's Hamburgers, 1307 N. Broadway on Route 66 in Oklahoma City, OK. There were once six Cherry’s Hamburgers locations in Oklahoma City, including one on 23rd Street a few blocks west of the state capitol. The Oklahoma Historical Society identifies this as the Route 66 location, which was offering root beer for a nickel and ten cent malts when this view was taken about 1949.
This photo is courtesy of the Oklahoma Historical Society.

Gun captain at the open breech of one of Wisconsin's (BB-64) 16-Inch guns off Okinawa, May, 1945. His right elbow rests on the "mushroom" of the gun, which he keeps clean by rubbing it with the towel wrapped around his arm.

Gravity works, 100% of the time.
