My view when I go into the office.

A tarantula hawk in my yard yesterday. It was about 2-2.5" long.

I'm sure that this is a job that no one wants! Well, there's probably that one guy...

This is an accurate comparison vs most of what you find online which is usually an exaggeration.

What happens if the vacuum pumps fail, or in an electrical blackout?

The vacuum obviously allows atmospheric pressure to push the car up. if the vacuum is released or fails, as you put it, gravity pulls the car down but the seals prevent it from moving quickly. I'm sure there are mechanical friction devices that are redundant.

Hunter S. Thompson may have written some good stuff, but he was a real ***hole. in life from what I can tell.

Guess the red object:

In Wales there is a legal requirement for road signs to be in both English and Welsh. In this case, the official of the Highways department emailed the English wording to the translator and, after receiving a reply, proceeded to have the sign made and installed. A few weeks later, Welsh-speaking drivers began to call up to point out that the Welsh reads, "I am currently out of the office. Please submit any work to the translation team."
