![]() That was an odd landing. May 5th 2016, British Airways Airbus A380-800 arrived into Heathrow from Hong Kong . One of the tyres had developed a square semi deflated state. Tyre experts determined that the tyre was damaged or received a puncture that perforated the casing and leaked during the flight until low/zero pressure. During descent, when aircraft reached a lower altitude, due to the fact that either the hole in the tire closed up (due to low pressure inside the tire) or because the size of the hole did not allow the tire pressure to increase as fast as the outside air pressure, the higher outside air pressure exerted an external force on the tire that compressed into this this strange square shape. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I've always thought that it would be cool to buy a house and discover a bomb shelter on the property. I'm sure the novelty would wear off in about 10 mins, and there's the possibility that it would turn into a PITA.

The only person that I don't recognize is the 3rd from the left in the front row, the woman wearing the sun visor.

![]() Ozark National Forest, Arkansas Where is that? Looks familiar, Though I thought it was Ouachita nat forest with the rocks pushed up edgeways. I motorcycle/hike/camp all over the state and feel like i've been there but can't place it. ![]()

That's really horrible. I would NOT want to live there or even nearby.

I've only ever seen 2 kinds of golf balls. One, which was, I think a cheap driving range golf ball, was solid all of the way through. And all of the rest were 3 different "layers" of 3 different substances. The outside was a tough outer layer a couple/few millimeters thick. Then the "mantel" was what seemed like 1000' of very thin rubber-band-like material wrapped around and around and around. And the core was a hollow rubber ball, that once it has been freed, is a great toy for a kid (like the rubber balls that you used to get out of candy machines at the super market). < edit > Apparently, things have changed! ![]() What I'm used to is #2 wrapped around #3. ![]() Someone's got food poisoning. They used to make them with a liquid filled core. I cut a few open when I was a kid.

Yep, I cut into one of those as well. The small ball in the middle was full of a thick liquid.

![]() ![]() ![]() The Oldsmobile Aerotech is a fascinating piece of automotive history! Finished in late 1986, this supercar featured a groundbreaking 2.0-liter Quad 4 engine capable of producing an astonishing 1,000 HP. Notably, the first prototype was tested by racing legend A.J. Foyt at GM's proving ground in Arizona, reaching top speeds of 218 mph. This remarkable feat showcased the Aerotech’s innovative design and engineering, positioning it as a pioneer in high-performance vehicles. Despite its impressive capabilities, the Aerotech remains relatively unknown compared to other supercars of its era, making it a hidden gem in automotive lore. ![]() ![]() Philco 48-1000 - This, along with the 48-700, was Philco's first production TV set, made in 1948 ![]()
