In January 1928, 3 television sets were installed by GE in homes in New York, to demonstrate the first home television receiver.
The picture was 1.5 inches long by 1 inch wide and 24 lines at 16 frames per second.

Wait, she has to wait until she is 169 years old??

Nathan Pyle puts out a cartoon on the web and a show, I think, both called Strange Planet. I think it's pretty funny. Sometimes he just posts random statements.

WTF is going on in the bottom photo? Is that an HVAC vent that has been routed out through the roof to be routed to the roof of an addition or porch?

I must have been about 4 when I "plugged" a pair of tweezers into an outlet. No electric shock, but the immediate lights out condition scared me.

Snail as a bulb, LOL!

Snailbulb. Quite the concept. One small step or a giant leap beyond glowworm, depending on how your brain works.

Photographed by Carleton E. Watkins, the Sierra Nevada Hoisting Works in Virginia City shows the scale of mining on the Comstock Lode during the 1870s. The stacks of timber and heavy framing reflect how much wood was needed to build hoists, headframes, and underground supports. Every beam had a purpose, keeping shafts open and equipment working as ore was brought to the surface. Images like this document the physical demands of deep hard rock mining and the materials required to keep operations running day after day.

The prize-winning coiffures in a contest in Munich, Germany on May 1, 1964. They were designed for evening wear and hairdressers said anyone with a little time can copy them
