I’m shopping for a new wallet. What’s yours?

I gave up on the "fold up" "put it in your pocket" wallet about 25 years ago... No need to try to stuff a Clubhouse Sandwich sized wallet into your pocket. Have been using large wallets ever since. Will not fit in your pants, as no wallet should. Does fit in an inner jacket pocket or your wife's purse when you are out. No sitting on your wallet in the car or at a table, which is incredibly terrible for your back.

The size I have been using is large enough to have my business stuff on one side and my personal stuff on the other. The current one (last 4 years) is from Coach. Nice unit, durable. I can fold my Iphone 10XS inside of it for easy transport.

If travelling or going to dinner, I have a very small dinner wallet that holds my DL, a couple of CC's and some cash.

Its a man's wallet, not your dad's wallet. YMMV

I say this all tongue in cheek as we all have different needs and styles.

Really. Keys for scale. Caribiner hooks to my pants belt loop. Next time around I’ll go with something more secure.

That's (the Bando 2.0) the ONLY wallet on their website that doesn't list dimensions. Many of their other wallets are 5-6 mm thick (empty). I'm curious how thick this one is (empty). I like the changes from bando 1.0 > bando 2.0.

After less than a week of using my Dash wallet I have had to rearrange some things. I use my debit card a lot, and it is a REALLY tight fit in the slot for credit cards. All three cars are hard to get in or out. I moved the most used card to the center slot so just pull the tab, and it is handy. The two credit cards don't get pulled out that often.

So far so good, just adapting to a new wallet. I do like the few extra MM thinner dimensions.

I have the Bando not the 2.0. I did not even know there was a 2.0.

I olny have 3 credit cards. Actually one debit card, one personal credit card and my business credit card. Of course my driver's license, several insurance cards, two analog business cards, and some cash.

That's pretty similar to what I have, but I don't have business cards or cash. I have 2 forms of ID, 3 "money" cards and then a few insurance cards. Then I accumulate receipts, and drop them at home from time to time.

I'm trying to get thinner, and wondering about a Bando. I like the improvements of the 2.0, but think that they'd probably increase the thickness which is the opposite of what I'm trying to do. But having the cards present nicely as you pull out the tab is a nice improvement.

I've survived for years with just a driver's license, a debit card and occasionally (but rarely) a little cash. If I travel out of state I might thrown in another debit card, just in case.

I think some of you need to really rethink whether or not you need to carry as much crap in your wallets as you do...

When I changed wallets I indeed did look through each and every item I carry. I have my debit card for most small purchases locally. I never use it away from town. I have my personal credit card for my purchases and one for my company purchases. Obvious driver's license, my voter ID, PCA membership, the three different cards my insurance company(s) makes me use, and the card about my hip replacement. It is only to let a doctor know what the hip is and who installed it in case I am in a major accident and in surgery. Oh, and I do carry usually between 60 and 100 bucks cash. There are several restaurants I eat at that do not accept credit or debit cards. Cash only. And for tips for pizza delivery cash is king. More than a few times over the years cash has saved me from much frustration or delays.



Oh, yea, I have two of my analog business cards to give to people that want to contact me and and proficient in the digital world with the new fangled smart phones.

Ditto for the voter ID card. Take it with you when you vote. Leave it at home the rest of the year.
Never carried an insurance card. The ones for the car stayed in the car. Health insurance... all you need is usually the number, so carry of photo of the front and back in your phone. Ditto, the hip replacement card.

Etc.

When working, throw a briefcase in the car with all you business crap. Get out a business card if you need to. I haven't used on in years, all people want now is your contact info shared from your phone.

I carry insurance cards. The picture idea is great, but if you've got grandkids with a 1000 pics on your phone, then it's a pain. I may have to look into the "wallet" app/function which, I think has a way to keep all of your cards in one place rather than just as a pic somewhere on your phone.

Hip replacement card on the phone may be an issue if you're unconscious following an accident and going into surgery. I don't know if they would search your wallet for the card or not, but they're far more likely to be able to get a card out of your wallet than a pic out of your phone since most phones are locked.

There are a few cards that you may not need daily, but, IMO, it's better to have them in your wallet than to HAVE to remember to go get them before you leave the house if you're going to need them.

That reminds me of when my kids were teens. I was always telling them (because it's something that my parents made me do) "always have your ID and your keys!" They all (and eventually even my wife told me to stop telling them) ignored it. I can't tell you how many times they got locked out of the house because we left while they were gone and they didn't take their keys.

Some folks, though, definitely carry too much crap.

My doctors offices always want to scan my health insurance cards front and back. I only go once per year to GP, Dermatologist & Ophthalmologist. The cards are renewed all the time it seems.

National PCA events require the card to be shown, and some multi regional events do as well. I have carried one since 1976. Old habits die hard. It is thin and easier to have it with me than ever forget it.

The hip replacement card is only in case I am in a major crash and unconscious, and the hip is compromised somehow. They might or might not be able to get into my phone, but they will for sure look through the wallet. It is a worst case scenario thing.

Often times I am at a social event and just chatting with someone and the person I talk to asks what I do for a living. They then ask for a card as they use aerial photography. There are situations when a analog business card is instant and they can put it in a pocket. The voter ID is again a thin piece of paper, and I can't imagine I would remember to go find it at home before I vote. Easier to have it with me.

Right now my wallet is 3/4 of an inch thick. Thin enough.

Indeed I was a Boy Scout, and I am always prepared. I carry tools in both of my old car,s I have fire extinguishers in the garage. And a tornado shelter in a garage, stocked with water and a bucket, wind up radio and other items I will not bother to list.

I have enough ammo to last many years of regular visits to the range or any zombie apocalypse.

And that's why I'm shooting for a thin wallet, but not expecting to ever get it as thin as javadog's.

Tonight I had the perfect storm of why I carry cash.

My wife and I went to our standard every Friday evening dinner. As we are eating, the power goes out. We ate with the light of a window and the emergency lights. Of course, no credit card machine works ewith no power. So pay with cash, no issues at all. The couple next to us had no cash so they ordered more drinks, and waited for the power to come back on.

I drove my 911 to dinner since I knew that parking lot had the perfect spots to park a 911 with no chance of door dings. As we were leaving a guy pulled in with a new 2020 911. We complimented each other on cars. He has had his a whole week. I have had mine 25 years.
