Folding a letter

OK, I get a lot of invoices and statements through the mail. I have a few vendors that whomever is folding the paper going in to the envelopes must have some kind of spatial dysfunction.

Normally an 8˝ x 11 piece of paper would be folded in three sections in a portrait configuration.

Occasionally I get them folded in fourths, wrong but not too bad. But today, I got a piece of 8˝" x 11 origami.

I guess they stopped teaching these things in school. We had a class on how to compose different type of letters, headings, etc.

Am I being too critical, which I may surely be.

Yes, of course it would fit properly.

Trifold an 8˝ x 11 piece of paper is the only way it should be done.

I must have skipped that class . I would have two folds, bottom folds up over the middle, then the top folds down. I also have some smaller envelopes.... then one of the ends gets folded over too.

Gotta go.... I see someone on my lawn

I was only wondering if they ran out of the proper sized #10 and used a smaller #7 3/4.

If that is the worst thing that happened to you it was a damn good day.

OCD? Proper letter folding?

It is amazing how many things that are so simple to do right just is not taught at all. Folding a letter, or composing a formal business letter is near the top. Most of the invoices we receive at my company are email with a PDF attached. I send most of my invoices that way as well.

The late pay folks get a statement and a copy of the unpaid invoice in the mail, folded to fit the address little clear window. Likes a backwards trifold so the top of the page is on the outside of the fold.

Well, past the day and age of using snail mail to send your cover letter and resume, I'm not surprised. Obviously the sender was never taught how to neatly fold a business letter to fit in a #10 envelope.

OK, yes, there is a "right way" to fold correspondence, but other than very minor details, it should not need to be taught. Wow, that's crazy that someone folder it that way.

Anyone with a mailbox has received some sort of junk mail that was folded correctly. It really shouldn't need to be taught.

Was it an invoice? Pay them with coins

C fold, Z fold.. Envelope size.

On the other hand, due to their cleverness, you did notice the statement/invoice, didn't you! In a work from home environment, maybe the business owners 6 year old was tasked with folding, inserting and affixing postage!

Was the statement was set up Landscape? not portrait, so perhaps the folder didn't want you to open up a "sideways" statement?

There are many things in life that seem like common sense to most, but it beyond the grasp of people that are just not curious or observant. Balancing a checkbook is pretty simple. Just arithmetic needed and no higher math involved. Yet I bet most people never balance their checking account, and many don't even have one.

My wife worked as a bank teller as one of her early jobs. She still balances her checkbook the old school way. I have been using Quicken since 1988. A few mouse clicks and everything is balanced. For my company accounts the IRS requires we use a regular bank, and have accurate books. QuickBooks makes it easy.

My CPA said he has worked with many people that just hand him a pile of receipts and expects him to figure it out. He can, but wow would that be expensive.

So many stupid people in the world...

I happen to take pride in my ability to fold a letter into three identical segments. Tight, square corners, too. Call me a nerd, I just like things done properly.

I hate to say this but it's getting worse. People are not learning the basics that we take for granted. I see examples of it every day.

One of my pet peeves is seeing people park on a street on the wrong side of the road, facing traffic. When I took driver's ed, that was not allowed. Nowadays, younger drivers simply don't care.

I haven't balanced a checkbook in nearly four decades... my mom still does.

When a younger cousin went off to college, she used basic math for every check she wrote.... adding it to her checkbook balance .

Now back to the real problem at hand ... folding letters
