Is it something like a roofie - you give it to the screw and it will do anything you want?

I was in a similar situation once. I couldn't heat the screw directly, so I pushed a screwdriver hard into it and heated the screwdriver. It eventually loosened up.

Grinding paste on the tip of your screwdriver helps.

Placing folded aluminum foil in the screw head is another way. Tap the screwdriver into the loose foil and then try to turn it while still tapping gently.

With something like this, I always try the least intrusive, and destructive methods first, ramping up the violence as I go .
I am in the middle of doing timing chains on a Subaru 3.0 6 cyl. Fk.. at least 40 4 mm screws, each and every one of them wanted to round . Broke every 4mm, and t 27, and t 30 driver I had ,most of them snap on.
Patience, heat, and some delicate chiseling , and I got the last one removed at the end of the day friday .
4 hour flat rate job. I had 4 hours in just getting the cover bolts off .

Violence and blood. It always ends that way.

Ohlins shock for an R1100S. Expensive as hell. The screw secures the adjustment knob. The adjustment knob covers the nut I need to unscrew to get the shock off. ****ing Swedes.

Hardware store closed today. As a last resort maybe I can just dremel off the knob and be done with it.

Drive a #2 square head into it and use a impact screw gun on it. If that doesn't work, try cussing at it.

No need to add my .02. Lots of good tips to remove the offending screw. Let's see what it's attached to.

Rear came off without much issue.

The knob is replaceable. But worry about the stem underneath. Will go at it tomorrow.

I'd have a go at drilling that with a "reverse drill"... (Counter clockwise - About 4mm)

Look at the one that you removed, if you have to drill the head off and get the aluminium knob out of the way, will there be enough threaded section left to grab with a pair of vice grips?

The rear shock is a different set up. No tiny bastard screw.

it’s maybe 4mm across. I can’t find a drill bit small enough. I have one that might work. But am not sure my hand is that steady. Afraid of damaging the threads.

In that case I'd try a 3.5mm (9/64) reverse drill.
