No, but you could be outfitting a nice boat with joinery like that.

As a matter of fact, I was thinking a brass ship's bell hanging on the wall above that new structure would be a nice touch.

That Camphor looks like match book halves with a bit ripped off the board on the left. Beautiful, would make nice looking door panels on a small cabinet

This is an end grain white oak butcher block table I just built. 4½" thick and 17"x32". I was going to build a 3'x4' or 4'x4' island but it would take 2 people to move as white oak is dense and heavy and esthetically I don't like the idea of wheels on it. Also, this size will fit in most kitchens. One guy can move this one but probably not your average woman.
I built this base for it but Ì think it's too much. I used tiger wood with rosewood inlays and splices but sometimes less is more. Opinions welcome. I can re purpose the base (I've got some time invested). Maybe make a box or a medicine cabinet with a beveled mirror door out of it.

I love that butcher block. It should last 250 years. The base doesn't match, but so what. If you have room in your kitchen, put it in there until the inspiration for what it really wants strikes you.

My original plan was too turn and mortise in oak legs but decided to go with a neo industrial look with metal legs. Maybe that's why I'm not in love with the base now

My thought is if you did a square tube metal base it would look better, the triangle has a weak look where it meets the massive top.

The butcher block is stunning though.

I considered square frames for the legs but the A frame lines up with the cleaver edge which drops below the top by several inches. It just seemed safer. That cleaver is actually a japanese slicing knife and not a heavy chopping cleaver. Good for scooping up the sliced food and kept sharp with the diamond "steel" kept next to it. Funny, the most difficult part of the project was cutting those drop through slots for the tools. White oak is tough stuff

The camphor pieces are book matched burl.. about 1/2" th.

I'm waiting for a helix head for my surface planer.. then Ill skim them and square them up..

I've decided guitar body.. I feel comfortable enough with my mad CNC skilz..

Then halve them again on the band saw before sending them through the planer. Guitar bodies are very thin, you'll have enough for 2 guitar bodies or at least backs.

We have camphor trees in the neighborhood on the parkways. Poor choice by the city as they and liquid amber and a few others raise the sidewalks. It's a never ending battle.

If you break off a small branch it smells like camphor. I can't recall the smell of root beer but I never made that connection.

Guitar bodies are very thin

I'm thinking a top on a solid body.. If I have 3/8-7/16 after I skim .. I think with the CNC ill be able to have enough wood on top for some contours and relief

I have enough purpleheart for the majority of the body.. but a guitar made from that would be like wearing an anchor
