Wow, that is a lot of money for that car.
I saw a recent 1980 911 SC go for 66K on bring a trailer. I love the fact that my 911 is such a fun toy, and has way over doubled in value for what I paid, and almost tripled in value. It still ain't for sale for less that stupid money. Like the soft window above price range.

Somebody spent way too much money restoring that car. It doesn’t take that kind of dough to restore one to that standard.

Well, they only built 700 some that year, who knows how many survive. But yeah, crazy BAT money. Curious to see if it actually settles.

Also, what's this?

Almost a half mil....and it doesn't even have a 'cool collar' on it.

I watched that auction close yesterday. After reading thru the receipts that were posted, I came to the conclusion that the owner must have walked into each place he had work done on the car with hundred dollar bills falling out of his pockets.
I tend to agree with javadog, it doesn't take that much to restore one of those cars. I bet he could have gotten the same result for a lot less if he'd just taken the car to Wilhoit or someone like that.

Tall dogs love seeing who can pee highest up the lamp post...
Humans love bragging that they can spend more on toys than the next guy... At this level, that's what it's about...not the car itself.

Not a fan of that soft rear window. Looks like the car is melting.

What it’s all about is all of this new money being made and somehow BaT is where they all hang out and dispose of it. No one who has been in the game for over a week is spending close to a half million on a ‘67 targa. Certainly no one who worked for their money, no matter how rich.
It’s a brilliant business model for however long it lasts.

I'd say it depends on a number of things.
Is it all original paint? Is it matching numbers engine/trans? Is it rusty? Has the engine ever been rebuilt? If so, by whom? Are the suspension bushings all original? I'd say the $35k Shaun quoted is for a driver quality entry level car now days. Check out the comments on the 912BBS where BAT cars have been talked about.

Sorry but that’s just stupid. Even if I had the money that would be a hard no.

One day he was an idiot and the next the most savvy investor ever.
