While totally pissed at the CCP, there is zero hate towards any Asian, be they m'urican, or not. That would be totally crazy, kinda like the level of cray thinking that anyone using a catchy phrase is part of what is happening. |

-They followed him and his wife all the way to their BMW, and kept harassing him, then kicked his car. Tony pulled out a gun, the punks stood tall like he wasn't going to shoot- then my uncle fired. They both started running and my uncle actually chased 'em down, found one hiding in a bush and shot the kid in the shoulder. He actually got away with it since the punks skipped court so it got dismissed. He did almost a year in jail tho. EDIT: Oh $*** he shot both of 'em. I thought it was just one. https://www.auburn-reporter.com/news/renton-man-suspected-of-casino-shooting-charged-with-two-counts-of-first-degree-assault/ rjp

^ Randy P. That is what I'm talking about. I know how my friends and fam think. And my Native American "family", just forget about it. They'll gladly do the jail time.

Another true story: another uncle in LV who was getting tailgated by a redneck in a truck at a local supermarket parking lot and when he parked the other guy came out and confronted him calling him names He said "Hold on a sec, let me get my gun"- then walked back to the trunk and pulled out a pistol. I guess the guy saw that and ran into the store, while my other uncle stood outside saying "hold on, I only want to talk to you!"

They just don't believe in a benevolent god. One of them is going to go after the attacker eventually. I hope not. I really hope not, but it has the potential to get ugly.

I find it a little too much to believe that there is concerted bias attacks on Asians (because of covid, I guess is the working assumption) anymore than any other nationality. There’s probably some nut job that hates [pick a country] in every city.
Certainly there are horrible sub-humans preying on people everyday. There are over 1.2M visits to the ER due to assault and nearly 20,000 murders. So it’s ****show out there for sure. But for some reason the MSM has recently taken to tallying how many of them are Asian and now there’s “a war on Asians”? I’m just not buying it.

All this, and now after the latest shooting in Atlanta, my sister showed me all the concerned messages from her friends along the line of "be careful when out alone and check in every day". It's hard to believe we're having this conversation in 2021. She lives in Manhattan but is currently in South Carolina. She's lived all over the world like me, and isn't the type to let fear dictate her life. But it feels somewhat more justified than simple paranoia/abundance of caution (whatever you like to call it) right now.

I find this to be a very typical behavior for the uneducated American way of thinking. With every major events in the past, there's always the targeted group. WW2 with the Japanese. We wanted to lock up the Iranians back in the 80s, after 911, many of the middle eastern looking folks ( Indians are totally different people were victims) were attacked and crapped on by many dumb asses. I believe the reason attacks are more of a copy cat crime that are targeted Asian elders. The chicken siht part is the attack on the old. Some of them are in their 70s, WTF?

Even if you aren't serious there are people who are influenced by it. So yeah, no matter what your motivations, if you are saying that you are part of the problem.

Thank you. Sadly I have people around me who still joke about the "China virus". It's not them I worry about.

They are those without a moral compass, obviously. For anyone interested in how to help mitigate stuff like this - there's a lot to discuss. But if one puts their focus on why the world is divided into two groups: those with and those without a moral compass....I think that's legitimate discussion that is not happening, as far as I can see. Why do I have a moral compass? I feel it is because of how my parents brought me up. Not everyone is lucky to have what I had. Two good parents. So where does that discussion take us? Think of how better the world would be if more folks had a moral compass. How do we get there and why are we not discussing this instead of all the other stuff that serves more as a distraction? Get to the root......ignore the distractions. It's like the old shell game......

I agree with you. Someone mentioned earlier the mental issues also. But how do we sell the idea of these deeper conversations to the society? How can you and I make a difference? The mainstream media don't seem to care.

I agree with Baz , a moral compass or lack of is the problem . It is the basics of being taught right from wrong and carrying that throughout your life . There is a big difference between having children and being a parent . Having children is just mechanical , being a parent is a full time job . Teaching/nurturing/reinforcing the positive and communication with your kids is critical . If they get on the wrong path it's hard to reel them back .

Researchers who study viruses have known about flu strains coming out of China for decades. The fact that it came from China is not novel. The fact that it appears as if the Chinese gvt had something to do with it is where I think some people are conflating their facts and blaming ordinary people who have nothing to do with how it started. We've been whipsawed between the media pumping it up, making it appear to be more lethal than it is, and the government irrational response and overreaction. No wonder folks are just lashing out at easy targets. In a way you can hardly blame them for reaching a breaking point. It's just as irrational to say "snap out of it" now. We've got to get back to a sense of normalcy and push to get the economy going again.
