You have enough to worry about...

To the OP, get better soon. And then get the vaccine as soon as you can.

Thanks all, we're both very sick, but wife slightly worse at the moment. I'm going nuts just sitting so I go out in my garage and catch up on the various projects. But I run out of energy and come back in flop on the couch. TV is awful.

But we've been catching up on a guilty pleasure - Mystery Science Theatre 3000. All the episodes are on YouTube- where we patch into our flat screen.

So far, pretty rough overall, my wife is younger but is suffering slightly more. We're both in good health, especially for our age group. Neither of us smoke. It sucks, quarantined for the next 10 or so days. I'm going nuts already........
I am curious if a protocol was put in place by your doctor once you were diagnosed with Covid.

Did they put you on any medication or did they tell you to go home and ride it out?

If it is so deadly, why would they send you home to die with no treatment or plan in place to mitigate the effects?

I do not know as single person who has had it, my wife knows 2 people and both were sent home to ride it out and only call the Doc if it got worse. Which seems insane to me.

Agreed. What other ailment results in being sent home to ride it out and dont come back until you can’t breathe?

I too had it, as did my family.

Stay hydrated, like drink fluids constantly. That really helped me, I had odd symptoms though not the normal ones for the most part.

Get well.

I hope for the best. Never felt more exhausted in my life. Taking a shower, taking out the trash, it knocks you down like no other illness.

I hit golf balls yesterday, wasn't pretty, it's still kicking my arse. Hit me before the first of the year.

So no meds specifically- my brother- in-law who is a nurse recommended Robitussin CF every 4 hours to keep fluid off the lungs. Drinking lots of water, in quarantine for 10 days at home.

Have you sweated yet? Fever? It affects people in different ways. I experienced vertigo, and she couldn't get out of bed for 8 days because of body pain. I still get dizzy spells, now is one.

Drink, eat, sleep. That's all you can do.

I had elevated temps last week, but only slightly. My wife however hit 102+ Wed night, I kept giving her cold compresses while she kept tabs on her temp. If it went much higher, I was going to take her to the emergency room. Thankfully it came down and hovered @ 100 until the next morning.

Since then all that has subsided.....

uncertain long term effects?

A new study out of Northwestern University shows that 85% of long-haulers — Covid patients who have largely recovered from the worst of the disease, but continue to experience long-term symptoms — experienced four or more neurologic symptoms. Those symptoms include brain fog, headaches, numbness or tingling, loss of taste and smell, and muscle pain.

Pick away sugar. He has not had the shot, and no one has had a chance to have long term effects from it. Uncertainty. I'm in short term recovery, no shot.

With Covid - there is no cure. That's why it's so bad. If you deteriorate until you have trouble breathing, they put you on a machine to help you breath - not treat the disease.

I've read stories from nurses that say people come in that don't believe there is Covid and demand the drugs to fix whatever is wrong with them - but there's nothing the nurses or doctors can do for them other than to ease the symptoms.

Sort of like getting the flu - you can take something like Tylenol to ease the symptoms, but they don't give you anything for the flu, you just ride it out.

Hopefully things will be on the upswing.
The fresh spring weather will be taunting you to be out in the yard!

So you are telling me after one year, there is still nothing that can be done to lessen the effects of Covid and you have to take your chances and hope you do not die? No one has worked out a protocol to lessen the effects of the disease?

They were able to sort out a vaccine in one year, and not a treatment for the unlucky souls who catch it?

I remember reading a few months ago about a Doctor in Texas that was using pulmicort and albuterol with good success. I got excited since my son has to keep both on hand for his asthma. I hoped the treatment would go mainstream, then never heard another word about it.

Then I read about the Z-Packs showing a lot of promise, then that disappeared.

I have to admit, it seems totally insane to me to just send someone home to ride it out, it is not the Flu, the Flu did not shut our country down for a year so there is no comparison. I am having a hard time sorting out how nothing is being done for those that catch it. They have to wait for it to get too bad as in near fatal then they deal with it?

Insanity.

This is what happens when people believe talking heads over scientists. We're over a year in to this thing and people still don't understand how viruses and vaccines work.

Good luck on your recovery, asphalt.
