Went back and forth for weeks about getting the vaccine. Getting first shot on Wednesday. Decided there are two unknowns regarding long term effects.

1. Unknown long term effects of vaccine.
2. Unknown long term effects of COVID.

Between the unknowns and all the politics around this thing, I’ve decided the vaccine is lower risk.

Man, you guys are harsh.
When he answered, it was only because someone had asked him.
Don't have to beat him up for it.

In the end, we've all got to make our own decisions (and yes, I got the vaccine, a decision, not a judgment call).
Nobody's quite out of the woods yet.

It's ok- we all gave the opinion and have option of either to take it or not. I like the spirited discussion, I really believe that we're Blessed as we are both high risk, essential personnel and it has taken this long to roost at home. So far not feeling like suffocating but breathing is laboured.

Gambler said he's high risk. Theres a vaccine, it prevents Corona. He now has Corona.

There are no known long term side effects of the vaccine(s). There cant be, there is not yet a long term.

Not being harsh, wish him all the best in recovery. But I question the basis of the decision.

Well, Red Beard was part of a trial nearly a year ago — at least 9 months. You don't think that's enough time? Then there's Europe who's been at this with the public before us.

The thing I fear the most is not any after effects of the shots or the illness. It's the next go round which could be 10 times what this deal is.

As a world of stupid people, we've asked for this and it has arrived.

Just to set the record for at least the Moderna Study:

Trials (Phase 1) started April 2020. This was "safety testing", under 100 people.

Phase 2 was testing (May 2020?) to get the dosage correct, under 1000 people.

I was in Phase 3, expanded testing. For Moderna, this was 30,000 people. It started in July 2020. One third were control group, and I was in the control group. I received the vaccine (first dose) Jan 25th, 2021.

So there is data going back 1 year for about 100 people each in the Moderna and Pfizer studies. And 1000 people for 11 months. And 20,000 people, there is data for an average of about 7 months (Late July to late October).

And to add, they are following us in the extended study for 2 years. This is to look at the antibody count over time, as well as tracking any issues.

I'm 100% on board with you guys. Probably more like 1000%

Way I figure it, if someone's been preaching vaccine fire and brimstone from the pulpit, then I'd be all over it, but otherwise, I figured I'd go easy.

AG doesn't strike me as the type of guy to be shouting through a megaphone about it. Maybe he has over in parf or something, I don't know. In my own life, I am surrounded by people who doubt the vaccine. Wife, family members, coworkers. I am the odd man out. I've done my best to state my opinions, but in the end, it just gets my own blood pressure up more than anything.

I do see a fair number of people looking forward to the Johnson&Johnson vaccine. Maybe that'll help out.

No parf land for me in the entire time I've been on here. I thought to share this, my experience first hand. I believe I've seen the worst so far I seem to be on a slight upswing, my wife however not so much. She's in the ER right now, having all systems checked. As of this writing she's OK - but waiting on chest X-ray to check for pneumonia.

As far as shouting from the pulpit, that is not me at all. Further, Kenneth Copeland is of a prosperity ministry, while he has the freedom to shout and preach his version of God's truth...............does not mean that is what the Bible says. My Pastor warned me some years ago to be careful that more often than not - words spoken from the pulpit are not always the truth.

Also two years ago a guy who I worked with had the flu vaccine and a day later his left arm and hand started to go numb and eventually he lost the use of it. While I know it's rare, it really hit home with me. He eventually won a lawsuit for a substantial amount of money, but that won't give him use of his arm and hand back.

^^^ agreed. Not judgement here at all.

We talked my dad into getting the vaccine. I waffle back and forth on whether I will get it or not once it is available to my age group.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery for you and your misses.

Ehh, let me see if I got this right...you know you are high risk and you declined the vaccine because you deemed vaccine long term effects to be worse than C19 long term effects (one of them being death)? That is a bad call.

Anyway, wish you a speedy recovery.

It certainly seems to be a hit and miss virus for some people. A friend of mine (65 yo) was not feeling well and was tested positive for covid 19. He felt crappy for a day or two and was over the worst of it with no respiratory symptoms at all.
The woman that lives directly behind us (about 50 yo) was in the hospital in respiratory distress for two weeks before slowly recovering with many symptoms lingering after.
I will take the vaccine when it is available to me.

So how did this one resolve? Any update?

Hopefully recovered well. Take the vaccine when it's available, folks.

Hey all, yes we're both fine. God has Blessed us, the only thing lingering is tiredness, low energy once out the gate, but those symptoms are diminishing w/ time. I didn't burn any leave as my FMLA covered it completely.

Glad to hear that. Most people recover from it but it seems like a matter of luck.
