My brake fluid has never gone low so I am not sure about this but PERHAPS the flickering brake warning light indicates low brake fluid level. . . or a ground issue.

Webb, its a 72. Oh yeah its been messed with. There's no wipers, no wiper motor and its basically stripped for weight reduction. The toggle switch is my fuel pump switch. A big Carter fuel pump mounted under the hood next to a just about two gallon oil tank.

This, but Tim's photo of his book confuses me. E brake light shouldn't flicker or dim out.

my '73.5 looks like yours
your brake light 'reads' the parking brake AND the brake fluid level I think you may have to trace the wires, but turn the LF tire outward, crawl in with a rag & light and see if there is a wire going to the brake reservoir on the m/c Last edited by RWebb; 04-02-2021 at 08:00 PM.. |

I'd be concerned about the zero oil pressure at 1425 rpm.

Just checked, no light on all gauges. Tach is the only gauge that works. When I turn the keys, the red and green light lid up on the oil gauge. So there's power going to it. The little blue light next to 2000 rpm on the tach only lights up when key is on "Accessory" and goes off then I turn to on. I just discovered this blue light 5 min ago. Checked fuses, all are good. But will test with test light tomorrow. Jiggled wires behind and under dash and fuse box, all are good and connected. The fuel gauge doesn't work, or not connected. Need to pull it during daylight. I think there's power going to the gauges, but somehow it isn't lighting up or working. No clock btw.

Correction. The blue light next to the 2000 rpm mark only turns on when the light switch is pulled out half way to turn on side markers lights. So, I am getting power but no lights.

Here are couple more pics. If you guys see anything unusual, plesae let me known. Sorry for not putting this type of question over in Tech. I haven't post over there in many years so I didn't want to get chased out of there.
Looks like the speedo isn't connected at all. |

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/1068665-1974-temp-specs.html On the right of this photo you can see the manual is talking about the B light and you can see it says in the cut off photo it references a light that flashes. Does anyone have this in their owner’s manual?

The link I posted with the picture of the master cylinder with a brake light warning switch attached to it was from an early long hood - not from my MY 1975.
Take a look at your master cylinder and see if it has this switch. If so, disconnect the wire going to it and see if your light goes out.

when you say "no lights" do you mean the background illumination? There is a common wire for the illumination. If it shorts to ground, then you'll burn the entire wire and lose all background illumination in one go.

oh my. Yes, a lot is unusual. As for the wiring, you need a wiring diagram matching whichever year your gauges are "compatible" with. In other words, determine which MY you are going for, and you may need to graft onto the harness.

Yep. No background illumination. This is for all the gauges, no lights. What's the blue light next to the 2000 mark on the tach? Will tear into it later this evening and search for ground wire.

The blue light indicate high beam headlights are on.
For what it's worth, the original guage illumination wire was blue/ black. It was sort of daisy-chained from one bulb to the next. |

No, they ground against the guage. The single wire is positive.
