I don't have a problem with the possibility of UFO's.. Why do you think that.
all it means is that somebody saw something in the air.. and they didn't know what was.

No difficulty in wrapping my head around that.. it's the silliest argument ever.

UFO's have been real since as far as man has been looking up in the sky and wondered,
"Hey what's that?"

The difficulty in wrapping a head around it, would be if it were to be identified as something new and/or hostile, at which point it no longer is a UFO but whatever it is Identified as.

Your opinions rely on the opinions of others.

Pity, that.

BTW, this was in 1987. My next tour was at the flight test center here in Patuxent River, Maryland. There was and is nothing on this Earth that could match the flight regime of what we witnessed that night. Nothing.

I then managed all UAS for the Navy for five years. Tell me what I don't know.
I would also suggest that people should listen to the Rogan interview of Commander Fravor, one of the Super Hornet pilots who witnessed an event and captured it on his EO/IR video. Much like Paul he is as credible as they come, his description of the encounter defies all of our known laws of physics and technology. I heard a first hand encounter from another former F/A-18 pilot that was similar. Something outside the bounds of our understanding can look an awful lot like magic, just because we can’t comprehend it that doesn’t mean it isn’t real. But I’m just an aerospace engineer who has spent most of a career leading defense projects, so I’m obviously a moron too.

maybe the navy is testing some new E warfare system that creates a variant of ball lighting as a side effect.

Right: Between the Celebes Sea and the Zulu Sea in 1987 for 45 minutes there was a test that focused on me and my SH-60B...I was 150 miles ahead of the Frigate I flew off off, we were a picket ship for the Battle Group, another 150 miles behind us. No one was flying that night except me, my co-pilot and the AW.

Folks, get comfortable. I have been since 1987.

Apparently not tiresome enough, since you chime in on every thread dealing with the subject.

You've been reminding this forum about your glory days as a Navy helicopter pilot for years, but you still tie your shoes one at a time, same as the rest of us. Your opinions on UFOs carry no more weight than any others do, and your sometimes-condescending attitude toward what others have to say on the subject is getting rather old.

OK, you saw something you can't explain. Lots of people do. Why not just leave it at that and stop trying to convince everyone that it was some intelligently-controlled device from beyond this Earth? As you said yourself, "You don't know what you don't know". You seem to think that being a former pilot affords you some deeper insight into this UFO issue. Well, guess what? Nobody cares about your credentials either.

I care.

And being in that league of pilot means he's seen plenty, and seen a lot often, so it means his take on the situation is more measured than someone like me - a computer tech who would be wow-ed by it, and would have trouble distinguishing the difference between what I had actually seen and what I'd imagined.

Why would that be? You have no idea: 45 minutes, Ace. I was not alone: Three men in the prime of their lives, had hours after the event, flying back to the ship, to discuss it. Get over it. We lived it.

To the rest of your post: I have had an absolute ball in my life. I am sorry if you failed at that. Bitter is no way to go through life.

Share your joy, not your anger.

hawk,

Thanks for info on aerodynamic wheel of misfortune tip. With just a browsing a 2018 article it looked interesting and time consuming to really get into.

I am wondering were you always in motion when you saw the UFOs. Do they seem to occur at a certain time range, not Zulu but standard time, certain latitudes, and do seasons have any affect?
