Marty, try a piece of steel wire for the hood prop. Maybe a drop or black paint on either end.
Best Les

I cleaned up the Richard Petty cars today. I didn't do much detailing as these are Franklin Mint Precision Models and have lots of nice detail already.

The Belvedere, after cleaning. The only thing I added, I did paint the fuel tank straps in the trunk.

What do you guys use to clean up the plastic windshields? My kids have a few models and some of them have what appears to be a whitish milky residue film on it that will not go away with warm water and soap. How do you get a clear windshield again?
Guess they could use some rubbing compound, but not sure if something else works.

I use McGuiers "Clear Plastic Detailer" for windshields, but I understand that clear kitchen floor products like Glo-Coat(?) work really well, too. I don't have any experience there, others will raise their hands!
I jotted down some details on cleaning at #76 of this thread if you're interested.

I use Pledge Floor Gloss on the whole car, you just brush it on and leave it to dry. It makes windows looks super clear.
I put that stuff on all those cars that I cleaned up except the Franklin Mint cars. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

I have a similar Super Bird
I still have the original boxes for both cars. Good thing I kept them, we're moving and I have to pack every thing away

Another car from my brother-in-law's collection, Dale Earnhardt Charger. I took it apart and detailed some things.

This is a Rusty Wallace car by Action. I haven't done anything to it yet, it looks pretty nice as it is.
