this is 1/43 scale! and I need to fix the fan shroud sticker! it even has windshield wipers that are crazy accurate scale!

I had my own business back in the 90s called Fast Lane Scale Models and bought hundreds of Porsche models from the wholesalers including the distributor of Jouef.
They called me and said they had 24 of these left and that was it. Would I be interested in all of them for $13 each?

Of course I bought them! I sold most of them for $40 which was a fair price for the amazing level of quality. Now I've seen them on eBay recently for close to $100.

I restored one of my Brother-in-law's cars tonight. He passed away a month ago and I have a few cars from his collection. This Mark Martin car is a bank by Action. It was pretty dusty and dirty and had a bent hood. Here is a before, and several after pics.

I cleaned up another one. This one is the Darrell Waltrip car by Action. I took it apart and washed everything with some warm water, dawn dish soap, and an old toothbrush. I then used the dish soap on a little cotton make up pad and washed it really well, rinsed, and dried with a blow dryer. It has a cracked windshield so I brushed on some floor gloss to shine up the car and sort of hide the crack a little bit.
Here is a "before" picture and several "after" pictures.

Cool stories. I have 3 Richard Petty Franklin Mint diecast model cars that belonged to my brother-in-law and they are very dirty, they are on my list of cars to clean up for sure.

I've been selling, donating, and givin away all the shelf dwellers.

Dusting off and expanding the drivers (slot cars)

Not the sealed package collectables, I'm buying imperfect drivers, and setting up a racetrack where the conference table used to be.

Here is the latest one. I took the Darrell Waltrip car completely apart and did a little detailing on it. The roll cage was heat welded into little holes in the interior floor so I used a dremel with a very small drill bit and drilled them out in order to remove them. This allowed me to gain access to things like the seat, fire extinguisher, and shifter and with the roll cage removed I could also paint the padded areas of the bars easier. The dash in the real car was black, so I removed it and detailed it as well as the steering wheel. The window net in the real car was a light color, white-ish or gray, so I left it as is. The rest of the interior, roll cage and panels were gray in the real car also. The car is an Action "adult collectable" and had some nice detail, I just wanted to add a little more detail to it.

A few more pictures. I got tired of the hood falling down so, I made a hood prop from a q-tip and silver foil.

Final. I put a little panel line accent on the grill. I think I'm done now, lol. Oh and the front wheels steer left and right.

Still not a serious collector, but I can't resist these $8 toy models from the Circle K (gas station chain).

Picked up the blue one and the ivory one this morning on my way to work... Black one is a 3d printed one that a student of mine modeled up and made for me...
