Forgot to mention that I also polished the body a little. I think the wheel color is spot on to the real thing, or really close anyway.

Well, that's about it for now. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...9c07a9208b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4fdef67d0e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a22c575035.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...654fc4c16b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f41ead4025.jpg

Spark models are very good, I have quite a few, below are my two latest purchases

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1698769023.jpg

Tried to visit the Spark shop in Tokyo a couple of weekends ago but it was closed

I did visit the Tamiya shop which was as cool as you'd think it is

Also discover a Japanese 1 43 diecast car manufacturer call Ebbro, models look very good

http://www.ebbro.co.jp/new/index.html

And down the JDM diecast model rabbit hole you go!

Scott Douglas 10-31-2023 09:52 AM

Are those HONDA powered?

I love Ebbro stuff too, I just rarely post JDM stuff I collect. I’ve been buying JGTC stuff back in the early 2000’s from them, as well as Kyosho. At a hobby convention earlier this year Ebbro were selling off old merchandise which was “scratch and dent”... I picked this up! Besides scratches on the top of the case and the paper case dents, it was perfect!

Great looking model Eric,

I'm hoping I can arrange a tour of the Ebbro design studio, if a friend can get me in

If you like JDM stuff then you'll love visiting the Diakoku Parking Area in Yokohama, went a couple of weekends ago, really cool place

Might start a thread on cool Japanese car stuff, as I'm planning on see as much of it as I can over the next year or two

I have a good collection of Japan SuperGT McLaren F1 GTR's

It’d be awesome to see the Ebbro design studio! I visited Tamiya’s headquarters this past trip and went on a tour of their headquarters. Lots of fun geeking out over how things are made.

Don’t forget about the Spark flagship store in Tokyo. There’s also a bunch of model car stores and used stores that you can go to. If you get lucky you can get some pretty cool stuff... they usually sell extremely fast when the items are posted online.

Daikoku is always pretty neat but cops come break it up all the time for a few hours. There’s a few other spots that we go to when we get kicked out though.

Shoot me a PM if you’re looking to see anything in particular! I go to Japan a few weeks at a time every year and there’s always something new to see. I’ve also seen way more cool American style cars and classics than I do back in California which is pretty wild.

How did you go about arranging the Tamiya factory tour? I'd love to do it!

Have you been to this model car show, looks like it would be a good show

Inside Japan's Best Hobby Show - Speedhunters

When I visited the Tamiya factory shop in Tokyo, this 1 12 Renault F1 model was in the shop window

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1698961296.jpg

Built the very same kit when I was a teenager, no idea back then that it would be the first of many F1 cars

I built one of those back in the day. It was in a box for years and I did not take it with me when I moved to Florida 7 years ago.

One of my friends worked his magic and pulled some strings. I hear they do have open houses sometimes, one of them being during the hobby show, but you need reserved tickets for it.

I’ve been to the hobby show a few times, it’s chaos, but I love it. My trip earlier this year just happened to be the same time as they announced the date so I made sure to stop by. It was the busiest year ever and the line to get in wrapped around 4 blocks twice.... even a few hours into the event, I was floored!

Here’s a few quick photos:
