Your Thimble Drome is probably more valuable than 80% of my entire collection combined! I love that thing. I really love the patina.

Edit - I always thought it was Drone. (A thimble full of castor oil and a high pitched drone.) I had to look it up. It's Drome. Every day is a school day.

It hasn't run since my Uncle and I balled it up in a parking lot in Thousand Oaks. See the grill

My Uncle, Byron, was just the best.

Oakland a long time ago. He is wearing the hat. His boat and Jag:

Not in the condition it is in

Two more of Byron. Lamson Road, Castro Valley more than a few minutes ago:

Sorry for the hijack, but mooking around with the Thimble Drome pic brought back a lot of really happy memories.

I saw that video when it first came out as I subscribe to Matthew's channel Model Car Videos. It amazes me at the detail that was put into that model, the research, reference pictures, and the binder explaining all that was done...amazing.

And I was so proud of myself when I added battery cables to one of my models...

Jeff, that's a great collection you have and looks like you've got plenty to keep you busy!

I too built a few 1/12 scale Tamiya F1 cars in the early 80's, sadly all long gone but not forgotten

Roll on 40yrs of life and a couple of months ago I finally fulfilled a childhood dream and visited the Tamiya shop in Tokyo

Was so pleased to see in the front window, a built model of the same Renault RE20

This was my first F1 model car build that set me off in the direction of a career helping create many full scale F1 cars that have been built

Got the paint on the body, now to get it shined up. Dad said it is the same color his '66 was.

The Danbury Mint version of this car has some black detail on the antennas so, I took some vinyl and cut some teeny tiny pieces to wrap around the antennas on my Franklin Mint model to add a little detail. I think I will leave it alone now. Lol.

Had to use Duplicolor as I couldn't get the right color for the airbrush.

You can always decant some aerosol into a jar and thin it for the airbrush.

Looks like you didn't need to; the body looks good.

The color coat I use 2500 wet sand between coats.

Just have to hand polish the clear.

Duplicolor has decent spray tips on their cans.
