Yes, I remember those plate frames and was exactly what I was thinking when you asked the question if I had "gotten the catamaran hull up lately"? Lol.

1995 Rusty Wallace Miller Genuine Draft Thunderbird by Action.
This is another from my late Brother-in-law's collection. I cleaned it up and detailed a few things with the engine and interior. It has a case that was taped shut at one time which left a bunch of adhesive residue along the edges where the clear top and black base snapped together. I used some Super Clean and a Q-tip to remove the residue. This was a fairly early Action diecast so there wasn't a ton of detail in the interior, the fire extinguisher for example was molded in the floor of the interior tub and not a separate piece like in some models. There was very little roll cage to detail also but it did have the simulated padding on some of the bars that I painted black. I thought it was funny that the steering wheel was upside down, I drilled it out and fixed it.

Kind of hard to see but I painted the engine block a dark blue and heads and intake are aluminum. The exhaust pipes were black so I removed them and painted them flat steel.

When the gloss dries I will put it back in it's case, as for now, here it is joining the rest of the collection.

The next car on my list is the 1996 Rusty Wallace Miller "Splash" Thunderbird by Action.
This one has an opening hood and trunk and is also in it's own case.

Hobie cars are shiny and look new, try some Plexus plastic polish on the clear cover.

Got triggered, raced the 935s.

So, I think I have become a bit OCD with these diecast cars from my late Brother-in-law's collection. After I had put the couple of Rusty Wallace cars back together I saw some pictures of the actual car and realized that the chassis on the cars was grey, so, I took everything back apart and changed some things. Here are some beforeand after pictures of what I have done so far. The entire chassis and exhaust was all black so I had painted the exhaust a flat steel color but later stripped it and repainted it flat aluminum. I had also painted the engine blue but the blue was very dark so I repainted that also, now it is the correct Ford blue. Anyhoo, I added a little detail to the chassis after painting it grey.
Note the round things with the holes in them is where the car is screwed to the base of the display case. The last photo was one that I used as a reference.

The chassis is back upright again on it's wheels. Look closely you will see the blue block with aluminum heads. I know I could add a whole lot more detail with wiring and hoses and all but hmmm not sure I want to do all of that yet. Stay tuned, lol.

So this morning i thought id look through my cars again to see if there are any of high value and the first ones i thought of were the ferraris since i know they are not made anymore. I looked them up and saw the copper gto came on the snowflake card. If you remember i had the datsun on the snowflake card i sold a while back so i thought the one i have might be too. My cars are piled up on my shelves in such a way that i cant see the cards unless i pull everything down. Well I did and it was a snowflake card! So Im going to sell it too because i have other ferraris in better colors anyway. I like to keep the collection rotating. Good score for the day.
