All the points above about what it takes, the risk, the long hours that business owners put in to build a new business are dead on. After the traitor obama killed the economy, attacked small businesses and high achievers, we Lost a lot of money, our retail stores didn't survive, to make sure the bills were paid so we could reopen, we sold a complete collection of Colt Pythons and Anacondas, in boxes, to keep the entertainment business alive, had to take a loan out against the house.
On the multiple home deal, a good friend, who was career military (almost 50 years) also owned homes in multiple states. When the Navy transferred him to a new duty station, he would go ahead and buy a house. When he was transferred, he would rent out his house and buy one in the new state and as he was transferred, he would do it all over again. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that at some point, the homes are paid off and the rent then is gravy as well as the property increasing in value. That wasn't greed, it was good business sense and planning for his future. On the vacation front, my last one was in 2015 or 16, before that, 2008.

I wonder if anybody in state or federal government has even done a survey to see how “desperate” things would get if the eviction moratorium is lifted. I suspect what we would see would be a lot of people filling those now vacant jobs.

Why even ask him that but I must ask, let him tell us a bit about himself and that may tell us why he thinks the way he does? Your ignorance didn't hurt me at all. I did however find it a bit surprising since you're the one assuming renters are the "poor". Maybe you can explain why you think renters are "the poor"??? Yep. Folks with money are going to pick the bones like buzzards. It's not just renters who are going to suffer - actually they may suffer the least as they have some government relief. Small landlords who are trying to build portfolios will be bought out by the more well-healed and put out of business.
But with so many people out of work over the past, year, even if you evict for non-payment who are you going to get to replace them?
I've never been in the position of having non-paying renters, but I don't see how eviction is any panacea for the problem in a down economy such as we have experienced over the past year and a half.
But that's capitalism for you.

This is being done by government. If the government doesn't implement, then extend, a moratorium, those small landlords are fine. These small guys are being screwed by the those in the federal government who believe they're helping people by putting a ban on evictions. Our federal government is screwing people.

Yep, I thought the same back then just to keep economy going and deal with the next step when it comes. I really think they were too busy trying to derail Trump at what ever the cause even if it hurts the Good working American people.

How are they “fine” when nearly the entire demographic they rent to is out of work? So you evict someone, who is going to take their place? Are there employed people standing in line to move to a different place?

According to BLS, at the end of May there were just over 9.2 million job openings. Most folks could find 2 or 3 jobs if they wanted to work.

People that want to live indoors and eat enough to go to work would take their place.
