One of my brother's, wife's, cousins has one. He lives in rural Arkansas and loves to drive to work in it when he can't fly in to work in his twin engine airplane.

Tesla's most recent numbers showed 9000 model S's sold last quarter with most of those being plaid. I just ordered one with an estimated delivery date in April. I will be happy to spend my 200 mile daily commute blowing everyone's doors off

How many GT2RS cars were ever built?

Plaid production from a mid-June article:

“We’re in production and gonna deliver the first 25 cars now, and then basically should be at several hundred cars per week soon and a thousand cars per week next quarter,” Musk said.

you wont be able to swing a cat by its tail in a parking lot without hitting a few plaid model S in a few months around here. Its still pretty new, but there are certainly no shortage of p100Ds, the last flagship.

Comparing the car to a gt2rs makes no sense to me. Its a big sedan daily driver. AMG MB, M5s, panemeras, Taycans etc. Id take a base model cayman over any of these including the plaid. However if I wanted a crazy fast commuter plaid would be at the very top of my list.

Its not like it is a completely one dimensional car. Its a nice sedan with fantastic EV range, semi reasonably priced all considering. It also happens to accelerate in a way that almost defies logic.

Tesla builds a bunch of large sedans and SUVs. I don't think they're out to win Le Mans.

Oh my! Just can’t take it that the Plaid is so fast! Most think it looks very nice . I think folks are just upset because it is so much faster that that 64 Pontiac or 65 Mustang they have in their garage that go 0-60 in 7 seconds flat!! Wait until the Lucid Air comes out soon with a 500 mile plus range!!!!!

And yet they are always eager to boast how fast their car accelerates and went out of their way to try and beat Porsche's Taycan around the Ring.

Sadly for Tesla, the 300hp Megane is only a couple seconds slower per lap.

But with only half the hp of the Tesla the SUV takes 3.7 seconds to reach 60 MPH from a standstill and 11.8 seconds for a quarter-mile. ..tho likely not an 11.8 quarter-mile on the Rubicon trail. Such sacrifice for an all around great vehicle.

The Tesla Plaid is a 4 door family car. Like a Buick! Not made for the trail.
