Prayers for your mom and dad that things improve for both of them soon.

I assume that it's Omicron since these mild symptoms in vaccinated people are being widely reported. I think that everyone is going to get it but could be wrong. Just wondering why it took so long(?)
Sorry, your own positivity has been a bit overshadowed by Rick's mom.

Get well soon, sir! Glad that you're vaxed and hopefully, that helps the whole thing to stay mild and end quickly.

just listening to stories from friends and such.

i think IF you're gonna catch this thing, this is the version you want. my friend had a headache and diarreha for two days and bounced right back. (cant believe i cant spell diarreha - it is so off, auto correct wont touch it. i'm leaving it)

i hope EVERYONE feels better quick. i am working from home as often as i can. i was supposed to meet my student intern this morning, but his grandma moved in to their home while she goes thru chemo. i think it was unwise to drag him to our office at this time. i'll email him instructions. people first!!

Not at all and please continue to contribute. What were your symptoms when you were sick for 9 days?

That's part of what makes this place great, we can all share in all threads. I didn't mean to imply that you'd hijacked. I just hadn't responded to Speeder's illness instead focusing on your mom as mom's trump.

First symptom was post nasal drip. But I gargled warm salt water and it kind of went away. Two days later I was getting mild cold symptoms. Two more days later and I had lost sense of taste and smell, getting chills, aches and fatigue. That's when I did the home test kit and it was positive. Did the clinic drive-thru test the next day and also positive. Never once ran a fever though. I coughed up a lot of brown stuff and kept a spitter nearby. It wasn't fun, but once I knew I had it, it was kind of liberating to know I had absolutely nothing to do but stay home and get better. Work, gym and band stuff went totally out the window. I got my exercise by driving out to the hiking trails in the desert and walking around for an hour in the cool sunlight.

Hey Denis - hope you feel better soon.

Any idea how you contracted the virus?

I'm very careful with hand washing and avoiding people as much as possible. So far I've never had it. But I'm always curious how people get it.

Good friend of mine said he got it from his niece, so I assume it was some kind of family event/gathering that did him in.

They're reporting 30k new cases of Omicron per day in the LA area. It's more of a "when will you get it" scenario. I know people who didn't go anywhere for weeks and contracted it. Could be groceries, mail, Amazon packages, etc.

I have a coworker that sponsored a family Christmas gathering. 23 people attended, 18 people later tested positive.

Yep. Omicron is so contagious that it's impossible to trace an infection if you've been out in public or with other people at all. Everyone and their goldfish has it here.

I got it & gave it to my wife. We both just felt a bit under the weather with nasal congestion, no fever, no loss of taste or smell, no muscle aches or any other aches. Pretty much just feeling a bit lousy for a day - last week. The next day we felt almost back to 100%. I'm hoping it gave us some sort of extra boost over the vaccines & booster..

OK thanks - but if this is true, wouldn't we have cases being reported higher than they are?

Maybe wearing gloves would also help?

I suspect lots of folks aren't being reported, especially since this seem to be pretty mild most of the time, and since it's cold/flu season. And there are probably plenty of folks that aren't reporting the results of home-testing.

Interesting thought about the gloves. I don't think you get CV through your skin. So JUST touching it probably won't give it to you. You have to touch it, get it on your hands, then touch your eyes/nose/mouth. If you wear gloves, and never touch your face with the gloves, and can get the gloves off without touching yourself with the potentially infected gloves, and wash your hand, then I would think that should help.

Of course, I think the big deal with this stuff is that it's supposed to be air-borne so if you're in a store and a dude sneezes, and then you walk through the sneeze cloud 30 seconds later, despite never being closer to the guy than 50', you can potentially get it. Of course, if you're masked, I would assume that should help. I'm not sure about getting it through your eyes, maybe that's not a thing.

I'm clearly no expert, just discussing based on what I've read/heard.

Good luck to all here. If you do start feeling really bad, don't wait to get treated.

We have more employees who have had it than haven't. At least none in my group have gotten severely sick or died.

My ex-wife's 29 year old niece died of COVID on Sunday. 10 weeks in ICU. It was her second bout of it and she was non-vaccinated.

What's the latest on treatments? Vitamins, zinc? Is Pfizermectin out yet?
