My condolences to you and the ex-missus, David. That's so horrible on so many levels.

I've heard that the best treatment is "monoclonal antibody treatments," but that to get it, there are eligibility requirements.

https://www.houstonmethodist.org/blog/articles/2021/jan/what-is-monoclonal-antibody-therapy-and-who-is-eligible-to-receive-it/

Quote:
Who is eligible to receive monoclonal antibody therapy?

Monoclonal antibody treatment is available to individuals who:

Are high risk** for developing severe COVID-19 AND
Have a positive COVID-19 test and have not yet been admitted to the hospital AND
Are 12 years of age or older (and at least 88 pounds)

Post-exposure preventive monoclonal antibodies are available to those who have been exposed (consistent with the CDC's close contact criteria)* AND who are:

High risk** for developing severe COVID-19 AND
Not fully vaccinated OR vaccinated but immunocompromised AND
12 years of age or older (and at least 88 pounds)

*In some cases, direct exposure isn't a criterion. If you meet the criteria above and are at high risk of exposure to an individual infected because of an occurrence of infection in other individuals in the same institutional setting (for example, nursing homes or prisons), you are eligible for post-exposure preventive monoclonal antibodies.

It is important to understand that post-exposure preventive monoclonal antibodies are not a replacement for vaccination. We highly encourage everyone to get a COVID-19 vaccine.

**High risk includes any of the following:

65 years of age or older
Overweight (body mass index over 25)
Pregnancy
Chronic kidney disease
Diabetes (Type 1 and Type 2)
Weakened immune system
Currently receiving immunosuppressive treatment
Cardiovascular disease/hypertension
Chronic lung disease
Sickle cell disease
Neurodevelopmental disorders
Medical-related technological dependence

Well, you do have just a flu. But it's a variant on the flu virus that people get super extra dramatic about. I've had it probably 2 or 3 times already. No biggie now.

Did the clinic drive-thru test the next day and also positive. Never once ran a fever though. I coughed up a lot of brown stuff and kept a spitter nearby. It wasn't fun, but once I knew I had it, it was kind of liberating to know I had absolutely nothing to do but stay home and get better. Work, gym and band stuff went totally out the window. I got my exercise by driving out to the hiking trails in the desert and walking around for an hour in the cool sunlight.
Try gargling with this stuff: Closys oral rinse.

It is proven to kill the corona virus on contact.

Me and mrs bivenator are just finishing up our Omicron experience. Both of us are on the tail end of the Pfizer predicted effectiveness time period. It was pretty strong 5 days of fever, chills, headache and some weird chest pains for me. This was the most concerning for me as I have heart stents. THe pain was center chest but not angina in nature, I'm pretty familiar with that unfortunately. I will be seeing the cardiologist soon.

Quite strange that our 18 and 6 y/o never had symptoms and tested negative.

That's my story.

Ask your doc about Paxlovid or Molnupiravir Recently authorized and supposed to stop it in its tracks.
I spent last Saturday helping my dad after he called asking for a home test, we have several. I brought him a test, helped him administer the test, it came back negative. I told him since he was coughing and feeling weak we were going to go to the walk in clinic to get him checked out. While there I asked the nurse practitioner to do a PCR test... yep! Positive. His issue was sinus drainage causing him to cough a lot. They prescribed Mucinex and some nasal spray I hadn't heard of. If it'll help you to know the name of the nasal spray I can get it for you.

Oh, and...

Get better asap Denis. Wife and I both got it. Pretty mild head-cold symptoms for 4 or 5 days. Doc put us both on prednisone and Z-pack just in case it was Delta. Pretty sure it wasn’t.

We both had one shot last spring so don’t think it helped or hurt all this time later. Hoping that Omicron will provide the resistance needed to put this whole mess behind us. Hang in there.

There are only one or two MAB treatments that have proven efficacy against Omicron. Sotrovimab is one of the MAB treatments that seem to be working.

Sorry I didn't know you're a medical doctor. So you diagnosed them both?

Everyone I know. I mean every. one. has now had it. Deal with that.

Yeah, probably not.

I had Covid in August. I am pretty sure it was Delta and I was positive on August 29th when I did a Triathlon. I had some breathing problems prior to the swim I assumed was nerves. Struggled with beathing during the run, wrote that off to a stretch in very soft sand.

The next day I was in bed headache, body ache, a cough started. I just assumed I was run down from the triathlon. The following morning, I felt better no aches or pains. Still had the cough but realized I couldn't smell. Went to Urgent care and I tested positive.

That was it, I pretty much went about my life. Took some vitamin D, ate homemade chicken soup. Cough lasted another day or so smell came back a few days later.

I've had hangovers that were worse. I'll get the vax when the force me to.

I hope you feel better soon. You'll be fine.

I feel like the donkey in Animal Farm.

Before 2021 I somehow seem to remember at Wal-Marts, Airports, etc, that there were "Get your flu shot here" signs about.
It wasn't referred to as a "Flu Vaccine".
I've only seen it referred to as a "Flu Vaccine" part way into 2021 and beyond.

Seems to me that the pigs came out and re-wrote the writing on the barn wall.
Vaccines offer immunity for a period of years.

IMO, no one is vaccinated against CV19 because there isn't a CV19 Vaccine.
