That’s not what the Ivermectin is for.

As much as we may disagree about vaccines and other things in the news, I really do appreciate your suggestions. I've said many times that I think that you're a smart guy, just with a different POV on things.

I've been taking the zinc and vitamin C and I got out today for some sunshine and fresh air, I'll try to get my hands on those other supplements. It's a real PIA because, 1) I don't want to go in stores and infect others and 2) even if I was not concerned about that, I get really ill when I do try to be up and about. It's amazing. Can't wait to be over this.

Thanks, I really mean it.

If you don’t want to deal with the ivermectin, find some quercetin and take it with the zinc. That’s imperative. The virus replicates inside your cells, the zinc has a hard time getting in there, without a little help from something else. Take A with the D3. At least 10000 IU of D3. Lots of C.

This would’ve been most effective before you got infected, but do it anyway. You want to get your vitamin D3 levels above 50 ng/mL, so eventually some bloodwork will be necessary. It takes a while to build up your vitamin D levels in the body, that’s the number one thing I would do to stay healthy.

Five days in for me since positive. Feeling mostly normal. Still staying away from work until next week.

Have done light yard work (lots of sun = Vitamin D)

Past symptoms if this helps anyone. Unproductive cough, super runny nose, mucous pouring down the back of the throat, digestive issues (the runs), cannot think of anything else right now.

Lots of good red wine isn't hurting either.

For what it's worth, they have been treating my Dad with ivermectin and something called a Zpack. He says he feels fine but his oxygen levels were dropping whenever he did anything, even getting up to go to the bathroom caused him to be winded. He says his oxygen levels were better today. Hopefully he will continue to improve.

Denis, you have some fantastic hiking places where you live. When I was Covid positive and couldn't hit the gym, I hit the hiking trails. You're alone, not around others, out in the sun and, well, away from all the other BS of society. Do it. You'll never regret it.

My symptoms overlap what you wrote here almost completely. Would be such a minor thing for a day or two but I can't stand being sick this long. I need to be productive or I go nutty.

Great advice and I agree. I'll get out to Griffith Park tomorrow if feeling up to it. The weather is ideal...70s and sunny.

Read this hefore taking 10000 units of vitsmin D on a daily basis: https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements-vitamin-d/art-20363792

Safety and side effects

Taken in appropriate doses, vitamin D is generally considered safe.

However, taking too much vitamin D in the form of supplements can be harmful. Children age 9 years and older, adults, and pregnant and breastfeeding women who take more than 4,000 IU a day of vitamin D might experience:

Nausea and vomiting
Poor appetite and weight loss
Constipation
Weakness
Confusion and disorientation
Heart rhythm problems
Kidney stones and kidney damage

Vitamin D is about the least toxic vitamin out there. There have been studies done where people had vitamin D levels in their blood as high as three times the level that I suggest and few participants had issues. Small numbers like four people in more than 100,000.

One characteristic of people that get problems from Covid is that they have vitamin D levels in their blood less than 50 ng/mL. Once you go below 30 ng/mL, the risk of death from all causes goes up. Almost everybody has insufficient vitamin D. This is especially true of blacks and Mexicans, not coincidentally two groups that suffer more from Covid than whites and Asians. Frankly, I think that the data regarding vitamin D is outdated and that “normal” should be much higher than what has typically been accepted.

You can get vitamin D from the sun, but that’s very unlikely, especially this time of year. First, the amount of UVB energy hitting your body must be above a certain level, before that process even begins. This is unlikely this time of year, because of the low angle of the sun at its zenith. For most people in the country, the sun doesn’t get high enough, except for a couple months in the summer. Second, you have to expose more of your skin than just your arms and face, that’s not enough exposure to generate any significant amount. You really need to expose most of your body for at least half an hour.

They are obviously foods you can get it from but you’ll be the size of Jaba the Hutt before you eat enough of those things to make a dent in your vitamin D levels. Speaking of fat people, the fatter you are, the lower your vitamin D levels will be. In fact, there’s a really good correlation between all of the risk factors associated with increased risk for Covid and low vitamin D levels.

Feel free to get tested and consult a doctor on this, as always. I recommended 10,000 international units because I can virtually guarantee that Denis has a low vitamin D level and he’s not gonna get to where he needs to be taking 2000 units a day. Once he gets his levels to where they need to be, he can probably cut back on the daily intake, but that’s a ways off.

One other thing I’ll mention is that the amount of vitamin D that your body absorbs is affected by other things, which is why I suggested taking certain other vitamins at the same time. It’s also impacted by the health of your liver and kidneys, as they play a role in converting the vitamins you take in to the chemicals that your body actually uses. Your liver does the first work, then the kidneys take that product and finish the conversion. Bringing up your vitamin D levels is not as quick as you think. Even the amount of cholesterol in your body plays a role, if you don’t have enough cholesterol your vitamin D levels won’t be good. If you take statins, it can be a problem.

One thing you do need to watch is your calcium levels. That’s particularly true if you’re deficient in magnesium. Get tested, see where you are, adjust as needed.

Denis,

Of the supplements I take, Vitamin D is included. For the past 15 years I have been taking 10000 IU per day with absolutely no side affects. Java's explanation is identical to my Doctor's explanation.
Get well soon.

I'm at day 16. The tiredness is mostly gone, I've been able to do some light chainsaw work cleaning up storm debris, and I've been able to resume weight work but I still have the damn cough. Ibu quiets it but I hate taking nsaids.
Did one trainer ride on the bike indoors, just easy stuff, and the hack got worse. That's what's getting to me at the moment, not being able to keep aerobic fitness.

We were told the same by a Dr many years ago.

That said, A, D and E are fat soluble and because of that, you can get too much. I know that many years ago, my mom was having symptoms and it turned out she was taking too much E. Clearly, lots of folks think that the amount of D that we need (and therefore what would be enough to cause issues) should be higher than the generally accepted "norm".

Hit a nude beach!
"John Jacob Cannell, MD, executive director of The Vitamin D Council, notes that the skin makes 10,000 IU of vitamin D after 30 minutes of full-body sun exposure."

On second thought, just get the supplement Denis. I don't think the world is ready for the alternative method.

Very gradual improvement, I think. Still stuffed-up nose and still testing positive as of yesterday. Low energy. I got out yesterday and drove my Scirocco on Mulholland, stopping to sit in the sun because it was a nice day. Had to find a restroom stat during the drive because gut is not functioning properly, (the runs).

Not fun but also not feeling like a serious illness, just a real bother at this point. I'm very impatient to get back to life. Tired of being sick and vice-versa.

I just ordered this on Amazon, thank you for this. I was going try to get someone to hit a vitamin store for me today but this is much easier. I need to get proactive about helping this thing clear my body.
