Liquid lunches really work
I've been eating really well/poorly (think pork chops poached in a stick of butter and a cup of Frank's Red Hot, then soak some rice in the butter & hot sauce) for the last few months and have gained a solid 10+ pounds. Was feeling horrible. Couldn't exercise. Found these meal replacement shakes, basically milk and powder, and have been having them for lunch. 2 weeks in and definitely lost some weight and feel better. 4PM snacks, pistachios, are critical.
Shakes are 310 Nutrition but I'm sure there are many others. Worth a try.

I eat the 'no shells' pistachios almost every day. A quarter cup or so and my stomach is happy for hours.
The BBQ ones are my favs.

I always find that liquid meal replacement never makes me feel full. That’s probably my biggest problem, the need to feel full.

Eat an apple before the shake. Some say this is a great way to lose weight. Also if eating out ask for a "to go" box and put half the meal into it before you start eating.

I use the "size 34" pants plan.
Never buy larger than a 34. Pants get tight. Eat less. It worked for years. Gained a few over COVID. Still in a 34 however. |

^^^ speaking of eggs....nothing holds me over longer than eggs.
Eggs for breakfast or hard boiled for a snack..they are great. They're also one of the cheapest foods available.

I thought this thread was about beer
.Used to see a guy at a deli way back when .... his lunch was always two beers. Nope.... not I ... When I worked at IBM (RTP) as a youngin', you couldn't have beer on the large campus, and we played b-ball regularly after work. Having a beer or two during an off-campus lunch was certainly within their policy.... tho' I never did. |

COVID and Zoom has kicked my behind. I've always been a 34 or less. Not so much right now. Because everything was on Zoom there have been days where I wouldn't even leave the house. Plus since no one can see below chest level, I would just wear sweat pants. Recipe for disaster. Last week when I was on a jury it was nice to get back out and be mobile all day.

[QUOTE=matthewb0051;11657909]First of all, I started liquid lunches in high school. But I don't think it was the same as Shaun's. Back when one 16oz Schlitz malt liquor bull would set me straight.
We called them "hydraulic sandwiches "

You should try the chili flavored ones from Costco. Addictive.

I cheat a little, I don't use the onion soup mix and I ad lean meat.
I eat lots of celery, apples, carrots, etc. They also consume more calories to digest than you consume. Last edited by drcoastline; 04-06-2022 at 11:47 PM.. |
