I have nothing against Taco Bell, but I live in Chicago, where there's a good neighborhood taqueria on every other block, so I can't imagine why I'd go.

Taco Bell, I eat it once a year. I don't think I'm due yet.

Taco Bell isn't "bad" but it's also not "good." It's edible, especially if you're starving and rushed. I think I have been to TB once, maybe twice in the last 10 years.

I average maybe 3 times a year...but there are no other choices close to where I live.
Especially if you want fast, cheap food. The Chipotle Ranch Grilled Burrito in the original post was surprising how good it was...and for only $2.

I've been to TB twice since last summer. Each time based on a recommendation to try something.
The Chipotle Ranch Grilled Burrito Steve recommended, for two bucks, was very good. Like Crunch Wrap Supreme good. I hit Arby's once and Bojangles a couple times since then as well but that's it. (I did have the McMuffin I mention below) I also started my diet late last fall when the drive thru guy at Bojangles in Asheville said "Mornin' Hoss".

I get it. I've been in the Houston area for 27 years now. For the first 25 years, we lived in areas where we had pretty quick access to almost anyplace that you can imagine. For the last 1.5 years, we're in a new place outside of Houston in the country. There are far, far fewer places around. Now what we consider "close" is anything <15 miles. We've got about 4 places that we go now.

There are the other usual's in the same area....McD's, B KIng, Subway...etc.
Try to get a quick good lunch at McD's for $2...lol I can eat at the local bar and grille for about the same as McD's.

I really don't know how Taco Bell can survive on the prices they charge.
$2 for a good tasting burrito served hot is incredible. And the weirdest part is that the ladies that work the pick-up window are always super-friendly...as opposed to McD's or BK where they want to throw your food to you and slam the window shut as fast as possible. At our local TB...the lady always calls me 'Honey'

Taco Bell owner Yum! Brands said this week Taco Bell U.S. same-store sales rose 8% in the second quarter, fueled by the chain selling 20 million Mexican Pizzas. The menu item — which was discontinued in November 2020 — has proven so popular Taco Bell will bring it back in the fall permanently.

Taco John here at least has flavor now compared to years ago when it was boiled beef.

Haven't been into a Taco Bell in over 30 years, and there's a reason why. Drive thru only now for me, and at that, maybe 4-5 times in that span of years. A buddy of mine ate there religiously, something with no onions is all I remember.
We've had Taco Cabana in Texas since 1978 (San Antonio), and it's (was) better than TB, but TC sold to Yadav Enterprises (Jack, Denny's, Friday's, Sizzler) last year so I can't imagine the food will get better, but they might expand west I guess.

^^^ I've never eaten inside a Taco Bell. The ones around here have been drive-thru only since the pandemic.
I have noticed that almost all the TB's around here have been under remodeling for the last few months. I think they are enlarging the dining areas.

Here is how TB makes enough money to stay in business.
Check out the prices I paid for the Grilled Chipotle Chicken Burrito pictured and a 14oz freezy this am! Hard to believe an ice drink can cost them almost twice a burrito. ![]()

A fun fact about my three children. NONE of them had been to Taco Bell when they lived at my house. Now my son grabbed some TB as drunk food in college. The other two are still pure.
Hole in the wall Mexican dives? All day long. Just stay away from fast food. |

I was getting this food around 10 am and I was in the drive-thru lane for about 15 minutes.
I never go inside a TB...but I should have this time.

Once again, you're a monster. First, you make me try Stax. Now, you make me try the Grilled Chipotle Chicken Ranch burrito for only $2.
It was very good. Very very good. Especially for Taco Bell. Nary a drop of that brown slime they call beans, nor the ice cold and gloppy sour cream, nor the disintegrating structure of the Doritos Locos Taco Supreme.
