I think we all recognize that the same way that people have personalities, animals also have personalities. I think that our personalities are largely nature, we are each born with different levels of different tendencies and those are the foundation for our personalities. I think animals are similar. I think that "nurture" can shape/mold our personalities, but that they are intrinsic.

Just as there are people that tend to be more violent than the average (get in fights, go looking for fights), I believe there are animals that are more violent. I also believe that some people are genetically predisposed to some day "snap" and do something crazy or terrible, I believe that is also something that an animal can experience. It may be that animal husbandry over the years has increased tendencies either intentionally or unintentionally, and that those are more likely to be shared within breeds.

Just as we all know that stereotypes are not a good way to judge people, they likely come from some sort of observation. So while not all pit bulls are ticking time bomb people killers, there may be more of them that are than there are of other breeds.

Bit bulls, and a few other terriers, are banned here.
I think it is good as we are not allowed to carry here either.

When you walk your pit at night without a leash (or current rabies vaccination), it is just a freak "accident" when they eat your neighbor:

Must be something wrong with all the pit bulls I have ever interacted with, never attacked anyone.

My "dogs enjoy chasing people on bicycles!"
This story is terrible - pit bulls on the loose - and apparently no one did anything about it - until now when they've ruined a young boys life.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/georgia-boy-11-pulled-bike-attacked-pit-bulls-loses-ear-scalp

An 11-year-old boy is missing 70% of his scalp after he was pulled from his bicycle and attacked by three loose pit bulls while on a ride through the neighborhood.*

The boy, Justin Gilstrap, was missing half of his ear, had bites on his leg, and had much of his scalp ripped off by the time police arrived on the scene.*

Justin’s cousin, Mason Aguilar, 11, made the 911 call Friday when the three dogs launched their brutal attack, eventually dragging the young boy into a ditch on the side of the road.

Burt Baker III, the owner of the dogs, told police his dogs enjoy chasing people on bicycles. Baker was arrested shortly after and charged him with reckless conduct.

"There isn’t an inch of his body that doesn’t have a cut or bruise," Justin’s mom, Ericka Gilstrap, told WRDW. "His life will never be the same again."

Mason’s mother, Kellie Aguilar, said this isn’t the first time the family has filed a complaint about Baker’s dogs.

"Nobody’s ever done anything," Ericka added. "They just run loose. They’re not behind the fence. They’re not tied up. They run loose 24/7.″

According to Ericka Gilstrap's Facebook, Justin has been suffering a fever and just left surgery where some of his skin from his leg and scalp were removed. Doctors say they are optimistic the integra graft will begin soon.

"We want to thank everyone for their support! It means so much." Ericka Stevens told Fox News Digital.*

A GoFundMe has been established to help offset the medical costs for Justin. It has currently raised $140,000.

Hopefully, the dogs were put down. I'm very pro-animal, but sometimes, it's for the best to do what's uncomfortable.

Then we should feed the owner to some pigs.

After our border collie, Elsie, was attacked by a pitbull last June, I always carry bear spray with me when I walk our dogs. I’m hoping the bear spray blinds, the pitbull long enough for me take out my gun and shoot it.

The story about the 11 year boy ^^ got me choked up.
So unfair for him to be going through this.

He thought it was funny that the dogs chased people.
He needs a good dose of the same before the last trip to the piggery.

^^^^ This .... but it would never happen with mine. One can spot agressiveness in all breeds (some have a MUCH higher rate), when socialized with children and particularly other dogs .... and children are just other dogs .

I will not own an aggressive dog .... period.

My Labs, some GSDs, and even Dobermans I've been around would likely save a child from harm too ....

When I was born, my dad was a cop (an under cover Narc actually). He knew the guy that trained the police dogs. About the time that I was 3, they had a GSD that they could train to do anything except attack, which at that place and time, made it not useful as a police dog. Somehow my dad was able to have the dog. He brought it home. Like I said, I was 3, my mom was 4'11", but neither one of us ever had a problem with that dog. But, if I was in the back yard playing and someone that the dog didn't know approached, the dog made it known that the family was off-limits. It was very protective of me and my mother, and certainly seemed as if it wasn't going to have a problem being aggressive. I guess it just needed a pack to protect.

^^^^^ Good dawgy . Dogs know stuff and GSDs are a favorite breed of mine too! Back in the 70s, my cousin-in-law (Vietnam vet) was a long haired, hippie lookin' motorcycle riding Narc too (he later ran for sheriff.... had a .357 slug in him ... another cop foolin' around at the courthouse .... but I digress ). They had two awesome GSDs that were always around a pack of kids and protected them like their own

far too common here
I had to put down my teenage dog a lab/GSD/CHOW/?
maybe waited a bit too long but she had a good life
SO have been looking

if not pure many mixed dogs who look bully locally

dog pound is full of them 100% full no new dogs allowed accessed
they were banned but I think the laws was overturned locally or not enforced
so they call them bulldogs or terriers or staffies
anyway no shortage of pit's or part-pits locally
and even mutts are designer xx-poo's or some-doodles and priced in the thousands

I was offered a pup recently but passed as it was pure pit

Chows and PBs (pure and mixes) .... I've been around a lot of 'em. They are not breeds I will ever own..... there are just better choices out there .... for me.
