The green bearing retainer is the really good stuff if you do not absolutely want a fastener to come out.

Using red loctite is the equivalent of welding the fastener on. At least with blue, it can be removed.

Properly designed screw/bolt fastening should never require thread-lock glue.
Yet people think it's a smart solution everywhere. :-/

Before he retired, my brother assembled satellites at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, they weren't allowed to use the Red on things that would be leaving the Solar System....

When I replaced the front wheel bearings/hub assemblies on the SHO, the bolts had blue Loc-tite on them from the factory so when I reinstalled them, I used a little blue Loc-tite also.

Cleanliness is a good bit better than godliness...
Carroll Smith once opined that using locktight on a greasy/oily bolt/thread, only provided a false sense of security.
Exhaust hanger brackets do not require the same focus as rod bolt nuts - consider the potential cost of "that bolt/nut" coming loose. cross threading is under-rated. :-) chris |
