Way back in 2009 I paid over $1700.00 for a 52 inch Toshiba Regza from Best Buy and got a free Toshiba Regza Blu-ray player for free as part of a sale they were having.
Good thing is I still have both of them and they still work. Thar was the first big flat screen tv I ever bought, have since bought others, bigger, better, slimmer, but that Toshiba was pretty high end stuff back then and was our living room tv for many years, it now resides in the master bedroom. I think our current TV is 42 inches and we’ve had it for years. In my recliner, I’m about 19 feet from the TV and it’s been looking kind of small lately.
I’m going to give the Onn 65 inch TV a try. Stay tuned. |

I remember going to an appliance place to buy a gas range. They had a plasma hanging on the wall, think it was around a 36 in. This was when they first came out. Of course we were in shock at how good the picture was.
We asked how much it was. $18,000.... Almost fell over. Equivalent TV now is about $ 150..

Do you have your computer on the internet? Does it try to steal your identity? If so, then the TV definitely will.

All of our TV's are wireless.
Isn't that how everyone does it?

On a 75", you should be able to see which side of puck is face up.

Mine was..until a few years ago. Someone on here recommended wiring it to the router/modem for better streaming quality. It's been flawless since.

Yep, from the point of view of a reliable, high speed connection, wired > wireless. The main driver behind everything being wifi is convenience. Having a big switch and wiring for everywhere in the house that you might want to connect is an expensive pain in the rear.

The only one I have wired is the 65" Vizio in the living room.
The other two in the bedrooms are wi-fi. I have a flat screen in the garage but the wi-fi is too weak out there so I hooked up a small antenna...works great for local stations.

Inherited my grandmas 32” sony lcd. Lived under covered porch for bike trainer. After five years it stopped turning on on… thanksgiving weekend.
Hit Best Buy the day after cyber Monday and in the return rack was a 4k 55” open box return for $99. Id prefer something smaller but it is nice and light. It’s survived 4 years now. Not sure what I’ll do when our 40” plasma goes tu, it’s in a wall cabinet and not sure they make tvs that small any more. Definitely excited about oled though. |

And that is all they need to know. My connection. My proprietary data. The only possible scenario would be having multiple tv's playing the same program in the house, or porting video to the garage using a phone. So an entire industry changes expensive hardware just for us mechanics? I doubt it. Don't forget that just because you didn't "log in" doesn't mean it's not transmitting everything to the nearest local device b be it cell phones, door cameras or refrigerators or roombas. Apple/Android/Amazon all have patents on that type of networking which can't be turned off or avoided. There are patents on computers being able to be activated while turned off (Intel dual chip). Why do you think your big lithium cell phone battery dies within half a day? It's constantly packet sniffing and relaying data from other devices.

I got my big ol' Samsung back in 2009 when Circuit City was on its last legs. I think I paid a grand for it, and I remember thinking I'd stolen it at that price. I did all the research like you did back in the day, and it was between this and the Panasonic.
65" Plasma. It's huge, it's heavy, it was expensive, it sucks energy like the Death Star, but it still works fine. 5 years after I installed mine, my friend couldn't give his 65" plasma away; he wanted an LCD.
