As I noted above, my ability to translate the inch amount of rain is lacking on the airport site but the summation shows 1 inch. 1 inch in the last 6 hours. It has not let up from a drizzle all day with periods of heavy rain. There usually is a back end to these things but I don't see it. We should be wrapped up with all of this by noon tomorrow.

The wind never came. Did we dodge a bullet or are the MSM folks just hyped?

Just found out LA schools will be closed tomorrow due to the HEAVY RAIN, HURRICANE WINDS, AND POSSIBLE POWER OUTAGES. What a bunch of idiots. I drove by the LA river today sure, there's a bit of water but nothing unusual like any typical light rainy days here in the winter months.

I think localized areas got hit harder but my town was identified as a prime target this AM and we had zero wind and maybe an inch of rain total. A light rain is falling but sky is actually partly cloudy.

Sad watching local news and they are panicking about lightning and storm gutters flowing some water. F me running this is a total joke.

This was the kind of rain we get as kids here, light rain all day long for two to three days. I remember it well because mom wouldn't allow us to go out to play.

I read an 5.1 earthquake hit Ojai (sp?) today, just to add insult to injury.

I am in Big Bear.
It has been raining steady but not crazy for most to the afternoon and into the evening. We are lucky that there is absolutely no wind. Power has not gone out which it can do on a normal dry day. We have a sessional stream running through our property and it is flowing harder that it did in the spring after we got the late 10 feet of snow.
So far all good even though if you turn on a TV you would think we are all going to die.

unless you are sitting on the epicenter,
a 5.1 magnitude quake in Cali is really not a big deal.

The news coverage of the storm in this area was/is total hype. You'd think they were covering some of the places in Baja California. The amount of rain we got since midnight is 1.47 in. according to my little weather station.

I even had my kid tape up his sun roof on his 4 runner. It sits outside and not one drop came through. He and I are pissed

Both. Seriously. We all know what the media does ... and it's all the hyped BS regardless of topic ... ALL of them ..... they are all mainstream.

Hurricane tracking is based upon running hundreds of computer models (based upon the data) and compiling the VERY differing outputs of these simulation runs into "the cone of the storm's likely path" ... and are not intended to project "exactly" where the storm will actually go, how, and when. I doubt if a single model has ever projected the path exactly.... and sometimes NONE of the models are even close but they try.

That's just the way it is ....

This storm track simply missed SD and the rest of you guys further north ....

Be thankful and happy

This, they find a ditch to stand in to make the flood look deeper, and they love to find a single mobile home (that was not tied down) destroyed in a tornado and try to make it look like the damage to New Orleans after Katrina. Hype it up!

Media: declaration California experiencing extreme flooding!!
Videos: spillways flowing moderately, some having tree stump debris but working as designed. Low areas shown with mild flooding but cars passing through no problem. Tree crews out cutting branches-not downed trees. All filmed though to make the situation look serious!
PPOT: no issues so far, honest assessment that I trust.

Storm weakened much quicker than anticipated, but will that ever be admitted?

I did see some video of flooding in Mexico. Looked like a river going through a small town's streets in Baja.
