Steady rain, no wind whatsoever. It does look like L.A. is center left of the rain path on the lastest radar. Right now probably less than .25"/hr, if that. Most of AZ dry as a bone so far. NV and Las Vegas pretty wet. LV suffers floods due its low center position in that valley. BTDT.

So far so good in Fallbrook, northern San Diego county.
70 degrees and light rain. Expecting heavier rains around 5PM.

View from the top.

Looking north

Looking south

From just before 6am this morning (Sunday). Steady drizzle and a few light rain showers - we live up against the foothills of Mt San Antonio in an LA suburb.

Highest winds forecast are 20mph. We get warm Santa Ana winds that gust up to 80 mph, so not too concerned. 1/3” of rain for 7 hours beginning around 3pm, that oughta be interesting…

Tangential:
I spent most of the year planning and two months building a new retaining walls, new driveway and a crap ton of drains. Didn’t think I would be able to test them for several more months so I’m actually looking forward to some rain lol

There’s a 12” channel drain up at the gate.

In the center of the concrete tiles is an 18” X18” surface drain, and both an 8” primary drain pipe and a 6” backup/overflow pipe to carry away the water. And if all else fails the top-of-concrete will still flow around the house. Crossing my fingers and hoping my calcs were correct!

1.5 inches in the last 30 minutes. Now light. So that gives a chance for the city storm drains to empty.

Speaking of which, since I call Long Beach "The sewer by the sea," you might wonder. Well, a part that is due to the population north and east of me that think the L.A. River, and the engineered portions of same being a flood control, is their city dump from diapers and condoms to tires and furniture. It all adds up on our beach. After a long dry spell, tons of for real siht flows down to the river mouth at the Port of Long Beach. Since we have a breakwater the sewage just floats around for a few days.

Gotta watch your step for needles in the sand.

I'm reading the airport weather data wrong. They have rainfall amounts for every 3 minutes. It says 0.24 in the "inch" column and then they sum it up every few hours. I'll provide the link for pilots here to interpret.
https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=KLGB

1.5 inches can't be right.

Anyway, it's been light all day except for that 30 minutes.

Look171, I'm not forgetting anyone, homeless or otherwise. I know what the neighborhoods look like adjacent to the river all the way to Dodger Stadium. Some nice and some not.

Just took this from my window. Only light rain, no wind and gray sky. Feels like typical late November day here.

Milt, don't forget the hundreds or thousands of homeless that leave their siht all over the river. Wherever they go, they are guarantee to leave a mess behind even the ones who stay far away from the river but all their trash goes right into the storm drains. That caused blockages in the last big rain we had.

We have had drizzle most of the day with now a steady light rain. Zero wind, but as Paul said we get annual winds from the East that can reach 80 mph so even if this pencils out with more wind in the afternoon and evening I am not concerned.

My friends in Vista are hosting a 'Hurricane' party with neighbors, outside. All smiles and great food.

I expect we will see some heavy rain in the coming hours into the evening but we already went through that early this year with above average rain and snow and came out just fine. Guessing East low lying communities (Palm Springs) may have flash floods given the topography in the area and and latest storm tracking.

If it gets ugly before tomorrow I will be the first to post here saying I was wrong. But thus far it's not even been anything to notice.

Local news is saying SD could get tornados and everyone be very afraid. Humm...yeah right.

but it only works on some people.

Yeah, the mainstream news is ridiculous. I've following anyone but them.

Pictures taken 10 minutes ago, backyard and front. Skies are very bright and no dark clouds on the horizon. As I said mother nature can be a ***** but I am not surprised how off-base the forecasts were.

My daughter is home for a bit and shopped Vons just an hour ago. Water, canned goods, paper products (bath and kitchen) are empty. Long lines and impatient customers.

I'm going to head out for a nice walk in the light rain...my favorite time for that activity.

The "news" is all about ratings, but if the aftermath of this storm is all about them ....

I will be .

Light moderate rain now almost 3 pm and no more thunderstorms or heavy rain predictions on the imagery. I’m going to call this a total BS event for San Diego.
And folks wonder why rational folks question the MSM narrative.

That's your driveway?! Crikey it's wider than the street on which I live!

Cat 4 hurricanes are nothing to dismiss - even if they downgrade, and for folks in Baja California any significant rain event presents problems. What may have been and what will be when it comes to weather will always be a gamble. Thankfully, this has been a bit of a non-event in the City of SD. When hurricane Kathleen visited in '78 it was quite devastating for eastern SD and western Imperial counties. Eastern San Diego railway never recovered.

Well, this storm has prety much been a bust for us at my location. So far only an inch of rain. The day was actually pleasant with nice temps, nice smelling air, interesting & intermittent winds, and showers at different intervals. Right now it's sprinkling lightly, and the tail end of the storm is supposed to pass over in a couple of hours. This has been a nice change.

Pic of sunset last night.

Pic outside right now.
