Looks like Logan Sargeant could be racing in Indycar next year with Prema . I think he could do well if the car is competitive .

The Bummerito 500 (that guy strike me as the kind of guy that reminds me of everything I hated about being in car sales) was a pretty interesting race.

I loved that the fuel-save-coast-around-and-win method failed.

That final restart before the red flag had some serious controversy. Roger's people are never supposed to trash each other in public (Penske version of 'don't air family dirty laundry' in public). What do you think? Was Newgarden deserving a penalty? Some thought he maintained speed but others though he may have brake dragged a little.

I still have no idea how Newgarden did not seem to lose places after his spin.

Indycar monitors the leaders speed on restarts . Everything I have read says a constant 80 mph was held . If that is accurate there is no issue . Newgarden has stated he wanted to wait until very late to hit the gas , per Indycar rules that is allowed . Again no issue .

According to Newgarden there was a 1/2 second to 1 second delay from the light going green to when he accelerated. I think Rossi saw green and went to try and gain a position , but you also have to watch the car's in front of you . That's my opinion anyway .

You could see Herta and Scotty yo yo a bit, but it appeared that Will yo yo'd himself and that Rossi was the principal actor. I think Newgarden had the best take - he knows Will can be hot when something happens that takes him out, and that they would sort it out. Suspect they have.
Remember the red flag a couple seasons ago when Power overheated on pit lane and couldn't restart, he was crazy livid at the officials and shortly after was a little sheepish about it.

Does the rules say they have to come out of T4 in a single file line?

Why don't some of them offset from the car in front of them so they don't get into the situation that happened?

I see it the same way, but will admit I'm no expert on the restart rules..

(edit) Rules disputes like this give the fans of any sport something to debate about. There was a recent 3 days long pool matchup on a stream. Lots of posting board chatter over whether or not a shot by Shane Van Boening in one of the games was the double hit foul...kind of a moot point since Fedor Gorst won that rack. Sure doesn't keep we fans from debating tho.

The match was in 10 ball, race to 120. First player to win 120 games won $100K. That was Shane, 120-116. But the match was one to remember, very evenly matched between to of the top 5 worldwide...and only that one shot left for debate.

A sizable gap between him and the cars that were behind him in the running order and, 5.1 second pit stop.

I'll go stronger than that. You DON'T time the green flag when the restart is slow and you are bunched up that close. You must time the car in front of you because you won't have the space to get out of the way if someone checks up. Rossi bet the farm and played the high risk move and lost.

I watched the replay and didn't see anything Newgarden did wrong. Obviously as the leader he's going to do everything to enhance his start, the problem is all the guys behind him are trying to "time" the jump and when they get it wrong they blame the leader...no dude, it's your job not to run into the guy in front of you.

"Restarts" in all forms of motorsport--espcially Nascar--have become a wreck fest. Everyone encouraged to be super aggressive on new tires as passing in all forms of racing has become harder

I see Malukas is going to Foyt next year (Foyt is an affiliate team of Penske, so a great ride actually). Apparently, he comes from a wealthy family who has pretty much been paying the bills but is becoming a paid driver for Foyt. He's done a great job for Meyer Shank. Meyer Shank is leaving Andretti and going to Ganassi next year. The thinking being that Andretti will eventually switch to Chevy motors (due to their connection to Cadillac) so they might as well get out now. That, and there would be the IMSA conflict with Andretti-Cadillac and MSR-Acura/Honda.

It may be better than that. Rumor is that he's actually been promised a Penske slot, and that Foyt is a placeholder until there's a car available (Power is only contracted thru 2025 and is 42). Andretti swears that they're not leaving Honda, but its an open question how long Honda stays in Indycar.

Phew, what's that smell?
It took IndyCar officials 45 days from St Petersburg to have “an extensive review of data” of the manipulated overtake system by Team Penske, yet less than two hours to see Newgarden’s telemetry cleared him of any wrongdoing

Apparently the current Indycar broadcast team of Lee/Bell/Hinch are in talks with Fox to continue on with them . In my opinion they are a good broadcast team and I wouldn't complain if they were hired by Fox .

No Lap One, Turn One carnage made for a pretty good race; some back of the pack drivers got to showcase their skills a little bit. Good job to all (most) of the drivers.
