RA is a great track. That automatically makes it a great race and the exact opposite of Detroit or Long Beach.

Well, that's one way to get rid of Leigh Diffey

+1. Can’t stand that guy. I like Hinch a lot and can tolerate Townsend Bell. Diffey makes me projectile vomit. NASCAR on Fox has Mike Joy. Wonder if he’ll get the nod. He’s actually pretty decent.
I think the move to Fox will really help Indycar. That plus Kyle Larson doing well in the 500 may really attract crossover from NASCAR. Plus, I’ve never been crazy about how NBC covered races. The directors seemed to always cut away at just the wrong time, as if they had no idea what they were watching. Here are my suggestions of how to improve Indycar: 1. Assign color schemes to the cars that remain stable throughout the season, like F1. The only team that does this is McLaren, sort of. Indycars are wrapped in the sponsor of the week’s colors, and that this is likely a function of the lack of season-long sponsors, but it makes it hard to tell which team we are watching, much less who is in which car. For years, you knew it was Kyle Busch in the M&Ms car. 2. Figure out a better schedule. Indycar starts in March, and then there is a giant gap of up to four weeks before the next race. A real momentum killer. 3. More ovals! Ovals are like licorice—not everyone likes them, but those who do really like them a lot. And adding more ovals might attract more NASCAR crossover. 4. Wimmen! We need more wimmen in racing! They do great in professional drag racing, and there’s no reason not to have more of them in Indycar. And finally: Dixon is the greatest ever, but Palou is currently the best. Fight me. |

As to the one color scheme thing, Fox should help with that. The owners have complained that the "streamed" races decrease sponsor interest, making it harder to get a full year sponsor.
I do appreciate NBC's coverage of all practices etc. Should continue with Fox. What I miss from Peacock's first year is that they let the video run during commercials. NBC stopped that after year 1.

I'm hoping they put together a streaming package that isn't going to require yet another subscription. I do 95% streaming. I saw a mention of some sort of streaming package involving ESPN and others. I thought ABC owned ESPN??

Disney now. They're doing a mega sports network to include Fox and ESPN...

It's interesting to me that they've made this move.
Seems NBC looked at Indy car as a way to raise their Peacock subscriptions by putting so much of the product on it. Now, Indy car is looking at Fox as a way to raise their viewership/interest by broadcasting all the races. I've read that some of the practices and qualifying may be on FS1. Not sure though. I think more people will have ready access to Fox than had access to NBC/Peacock. It will be interesting to see who gets the announcer gig, but I'm glad Diffy is gone too. Where'd they find him anyways?

I have a lot of respect for Tony Kanaan but this driver swap is a head scratcher .

^^^ the only thing that makes sense is Daddy Siegel (Mark Siegel is a gazillionaire) wrote Zak Brown a big fat open-ended check and/or brought in a lucrative sponsor. Not saying Nolan might not turn out to be a good driver, but he's got no record compared to Theo Pouchaire. Theo is the real deal (reigning F2 champion) and will have no trouble finding a seat.
It will be interesting to see if one of these companies shows up on the sidepods of the 3rd Arrow-McLaren ..... Menlo Ventures Mark Siegel Looking forward to Laguna Seca this weekend to see how Siegel and, more importantly, David Malukas fare. Malukas was immediately up to speed at the Milwaukee test.

I am a fan of Little David (Malucas). I am glad to see he got picked up. Nolan Siegel has tremendous talent. I have watched him come up through the ranks. Theo has just got incredible talent. He is very fun to watch !
