Got my first batch together for the powdercoater

Cleaned up the black paint mess off the diff housing, what a cool alloy casting and it's so light you can pick it up with one hand.

I had the pleasure of seeing the banana car about a mile from my house last night. It's... a banana car alright.

Making some more progress on the little things before it goes to paint.

Couldn't seem to find a trunk rack that matched where these holes were in the decklid and I didn't really want one there anyways as it seems to dent them so I filled all four. Here's one-

At some point the slots for the tail lamp studs became huge jagged
holes on the drivers side. Whoever put the new quarters in matched the jagged hole on the quarter panel too. I cut the top part from my parts car and fitted it. Still need to weld it and put the flange back over the panel.

I'm going to start shopping around the local paint and body shops to see who is interested in painting this thing.
Nice garage and toys. 👍

Paint is the biggest issue with LBCs.
It’s expensive and LBCs aren’t worth much (except jags and Aston’s and a few others).
You are almost always underwater if you need to put pigment on one.

Here is a British type you wont see many of. I grew up in the UK in the 70’s and early 80’s then came to Texas, but always loved TVR’s. I have owned and driven a MGBGT, GT6 and various other British types. This was supposed to be slated for restoration this summer, if i hadnt have just gone and bought back my Porsche 911 from many years ago, now the TVR must wait…

I bought a 2500M. Restored but needed paint. Engine was in plastic.

Sold it after getting quotes for paint.
Buyer came from Ohio.
Had it a couple years.
Sold it after getting quotes for paint.

This was 15+ years ago. Don’t think that car is on the road still.
Wasn’t kidding about paint costs for LBCs.

I had about $14k in body and paint after I did all the metal work on my single cab so... been there done that. Most good body guys work on time and materials and will not quote or even ballpark a price up front. I'll be looking forward to seeing this thing in British Racing Green and the satisfying process of reassembly and putting my own touches on it. Going for a sort of vintage racer look.

This thread gave me PTSD from my Elan experience. Fun car, affordable parts, lots of little things broke that you wouldn't expect to break, I always felt like I was going to die when I drove it, people would come up to you and want to talk about the car constantly.

I sold it on BaT in 2021 when I purchased the 911 and never looked back.

Heres my 66 iv been working on its ready for the road now. Traded a tiguan for it back in july. 75k miles and no rust! I had to rebuild and reassemble the engine because it was all apart so that took a while to figure out where everything went. And rebuilt all the front suspension and brakes aswell. Also did the carpet I actually used 10 welcome mats and pieced it all together. The guy I got it from got it about 15 years ago and never did anything except take it apart. I knew of the car because I saw it outside his garage back when he got it. It always was on my mind. Then I had the tiguan out for sale and he asked about it. I put two and two together and find out he is the guy so ask him about the car he still has it so I offer to trade. Also turns out we actually graduated together and know alot of the same people now we are friends. Anyway looking forward to getting it on the road the next month or so

Very nice, i had one many years ago, took my now wife on our first date in it. Pulled into her driveway afterwards and high centered it , knocked off the exhaust, nice and loud at midnight. Good times.
