Hifi guru buddy came by and moved the speakers. Now I truly understand sound stage. My goodness. He also brought some acoustic panels for me to play with.
Tonight’s ‘wow’ was Elton John’s Border Song. When the choir comes in on the chorus it’s like….well I don’t know how to describe it other than really extra super cool. Near religious.

Berttafan, It's funny how most people don't believe a couple inches of difference in placement can make quite the difference. I usually toe in speakers like yours are now, helps with wall reflections. Something soft on the wall at reflection point will also help. And usually speakers far away from the wall, with large enough room many feet out. Some exceptions to this like corner horns.

Oh I believe it now for sure! In fact yesterday I checked the back corner of the speakers distance to the wall. Right speaker was 2" closer to me so moved it back 2".....Soundstage got even more defined!!! Crazy that 2" can do that.

Just an update-
Been buying albums like a fiend. Some used, mostly new. New stuff generally sounding very clean, old stuff generally not. So today I got in a product to clean the records called Humminguru. It is an ultrasonic type doodad that also dries the record. $500 is stiff but a recent gift card from a family member was enough to push me into finally buying it. Will be testing this out tonight and tomorrow to see how much benefit it offers. Will report back.

Honestly, I love all of them. He is one of those artists that I “collect”. I have all or almost all of them and there isn’t a bad record in the bunch.
If your looking for better sounding, more Hi Fi sounding JJ records, check out the later stuff like the excellent The Road to Escondido with Eric Clapton and Roll On and Rewind: The Unreleased Recordings, and Guitar Man Also do not overlook the JJ Cale tribute album The Breeze: An appreciation of JJ Cale with amazing versions of his tunes by Clapton, Mark Knopfler, John Meyer, Tom Petty, et al This is an amazing record and sounds great! Bought it the day it came out and have never tired of it A couple of the older overlooked albums that are great are “8” and Shades If you can see To Tulsa and Back it’s a great documentary. Well worth buying the dvd

LOL .... I've now got to find cds that I forgot I had ... Escondido for one
.I have at least 6 compilation discs (unusual for me ... I prefer whole albums) and a few others... The Tulsa video and mebbe amother or two... What year was the early 911 ?I have a problem ![]() CRAFT ... don't have clue where some of 'em are right now! I only have one 200 disc player hooked up .... one 400 disc player won't open or turn... 3 more are dormant, and more boxes full in a closet ... And then I have my Dead/Jerry shows ... at least they are all in one player ...Thanks RF! |

Me too. I have one changer with just jazz favorites and another changer with just fave dead shows
I love those CD changers. Wish I had 10 of them because I still have about 3,000 CDs
