i was up on the russian river about two years ago. a black bear comes tearing out of the brush about twenty feet to my right. he ignores me and just takes off across the river. i was too stunned to move. and just stared after it. eventually i noticed a local named wilson hurridly packing his gear. he said "something scared the crap out of that bear, time to leave". as we reached the trucks, a grizzly the size of a schoolbus hits the river. he ignores us, and follows the black bear trail.

scary animals.

i figure what the world needs is a children's book telling the story of "Grizzly Man" from the bear's perspective. i cll it "Mr. Fwuffybuns".

Do not think I agree with Sammy. I love dogs. I considered getting a Bull Terrier.

Just because they were bred to do something 100 + years ago does not mean they are predisposed to violence. As I stated earlier, Terriers, in general, are not other animal friendly.

Bob, here is a quote from that site:

"Now an affectionate companion, the Bull Terrier arose from the "Bull and Terrier" crosses, originally bred for dog-fighting. When bullbaiting was outlawed in England in 1835 the "sport" of dog-fighting became popular and a smaller dog breed was needed, that could be more easily hidden under one's coat at the arrival of the police."

The "sport" of bull baiting grew out of the dog's original purpose which was to latch on to the bull's nose & hold him still for slaughter. This article would seem to indicate that the fighting came later.
