The few times I've been there none of the plane were open like that. Are you a VIP or on a special tour?

Apparently they "open up" a couple of times per year.

I don't know the results, but I think that run was after the engine rebuild.
Same machine shop that did my engine work - talk about perfectionists.

Pretty cool stuff.

seeing those SR-71 images reminds me that (by chance) I met Ed Beaumont in our tiny hospital here in no where Wisconsin a couple years ago. His story is pretty well known in U2 circles (see his story at: http://www.netwrx1.com/skunk-works/v05.n074). Instead of spy planes, Ed now drives a truck that carries wood to paper mills.... but is lucky to be alive conisidering his story and how many U2 drivers are on the wrong side of the grass today. Ed told me his plane is mounted on a stand outside Beale AFB today. I looked for an image of it but couldn't find one.

Yeah - what's up with the blue door panels? And is that an SRD?

My white SC cab, the int was totally trashed when I got, had some blue int out of a Euro 930 that was turned into race car. That SRD is going back in my black SC. Fed Ex just dropped off the Red SRDs for it and I'm planning on installing the roll bar this weekend
To complete the look, (Benniton) I have an NOS MOMO speering wheel & shift knob

Yes, when Byron posts bizarre pictures we need to point that out, it's such a rare event.

Agreed. That wasn't a shot at you, just an observation that some of your pictures are WAYYY out there. And I thought everyone knew that after 714 + pages.
