My friend said that the guy put it on after takeoff and kept it on most of the flight. Don't know exactly when he took it off but its a 2 hr from from DC to Atlanta, so its safe to say that he wore it for at least 1.5 hrs.

I carried all my gear on a flight for a quick sailing trip last year. I was worried about my inflatable pfd so I checked the TSA regulations. Surprisingly you can carry a CO2 canistered inflatable pfd onboard a flight. I figured it's not really for sailors, but rather for people like this
