Doing a little relatively inexpensive traveling and learning about geography the fun way.
Using Microsoft FSX Accelerator, MegaSceneryEarth addons (made from real photos), TrackIR 5, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, and clunky CH pedals. ![]() My camera doesn't do the screenshots justice. Original FSX textures are on the right and MSE V.2 on left. There is no comparison except for the under-autogened major cities and other misc areas where MSE forgot a bit of extra QC. Simply beautiful. ![]() A junkyard near SanDiego. ![]() |

I've been told that when you get a long ways away from civilization in places like rural Montana, the skies look like that at night and you can clearly see the MW. I gots ta see that someday.

Light pollution from a city REALLY kills what you see. And it's not even really just if you are right in the light. The dust and humidity and haze in the air above a city usually means that the light covers the whole area like a blanket. I didn't take this, but it's an example of the same shot in the same place during normal light and during a huge power outage. ![]() "Before and during the 2003 Northeast blackout, a massive power outage that affected 55 million people. Photo by of Todd Carlson" Again, not my photo, but a picture that shows the light pollution of Buenos Aires from 60 miles away from the city. ![]() "The dome of yellowish light is light pollution from the big city of Buenos Aires about 100km to the East. Taken at the Mercedes Observatory, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Credit: Luis Argerich" Here, you can see what you're up against. ![]()

^^^ What he said...
While we were able to see the Milky Way from our location and a lot of stars once our eyes adjusted, the camera sensor picks up even more. That said, it's amazing to even see the Milky Way as bright as it was, and as "close" to Los Angeles as we were. |

I'm building a playground using recycled stuff and natural materials.....never painted tires before but they are turning out pretty cool. Using rattle can Rustoleum H2 paint, which is supposed to adhere better on rubber..... ![]()

LOL'ing......
This reminds me of that Gahan Wilson cartoon. He was famous for his Airline Pilot cartoons.
I was thinking of the one where the two pilots were flying along thru big billowy clouds, and come across two of these billy goats standing on a barely visible rock surrounded by clouds. One pilot says to the other... "I wonder how those billy goats got all the way up here???" The billy goats had the exact same expression on their faces as the pic..... |
