Awesome to see Raptors bouncing back from the DDT days, I see Osprey, Bald Eagles, Owls and Hawks much more now than I did 20 years ago.

Location: Placerville, CA.... You know, the only place on Highway 50 between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe the you find signal lights. Above the fog most of the time and I can see the stars of the Milky Way 8 out of 10 nights. Kinda cool.....

Thanks! It’s been a fun project. Took me sitting on a county rental availability waiting list for 9 years but it gave me a place to store all my aviation schtuff... which I didn’t realize just how much I had packed away under the house. Oh yeah, P-Car items too including one of the 68 912’s. No headsets, dang that is hard on the ears. I switched over to the Bose A-20’s and boy is it nice. I have a mic in the cab just in case but hope I never need it. Nobody could hear me via the background noise. I flew a lesson in a Citabria with the door off “just because” and that was loud. The 150 is a fun little plane, easy flyer and very affordable both in fuel and insurance. A good friend has a Longeze he is prepping me to fly while he is away. Now talk about a fun ride. Yup, it is a T-6 canopy. ![]() ![]() ![]()

The other ones are cool (great Glen 6 hour shot), but this one is a gem as far as photography goes. Very cool:

Thanks Kevin. If you can't get people out of the way, make them part of the composition, right?

^^^Good times. 79 was the year that it snowed Thursday night before race weekend, and then was beautiful the rest of the time IIRC.

Spent many Octobers at the Glenn, camping with sons and friends. Cost a $1.00 to meander through the garage after running was done,up close and next to the teams.remember seeing them using WD-40 to clean the cars! Best of times.

1979 was also the year that Gilles Villeneuve was 9 seconds faster than anyone else in qualifying on Friday during heavy rain. I've never seen anything else like it in F1, even with Senna. ![]() |
