Question.. which pic to blow up to 26" x 20" poster ?
It's a great setting. Now understand that it was Fall camping in Smoky Mountains area couple of weeks ago. Storms were hanging out for days at a time. Even if it’s not raining the clouds are still there. The pic was waited on for best conditions. It was never going to be as good as I wanted I learned after 2 days there. So I was hoping the very low lite cloud skies with thick wet looking air would allow a picture to happen. The forest look was rich and alive. Before I left I told Steve at Tilbens I’d be in wet clouds and I need the correct film. He sold be asa100 jap film. When I opened the developed pics I was floored with happiness. They were beautiful. Much color was retained from being there. More than I expected. I took about 4 different shots of the same. I have 26" x 20" posters in my garage of another ride. I think I should blow it up?? Which pic of my choice. One is lightened by HP 3in1 pic program and the other is original as developed by camera shop 35mm developer that inserts a CD copy. What else can I do to it?? Darker or Lighter Pic??????? You decide I'm also doing a copy of this on the Dragon thread random pics that I have taken ![]() ![]() for those that are interested in my camp... -------- the river has stocked fish that get pretty big -- there are many small hike trails with access to more exotic fishing areas close by --- the river is very clean, afa being fresh off the high mountains --- a .7mi hike or drive to Joyce Kilmer Memorial forest is accessable 24/7 from my camp. --- Hiking the opposite way on the dirt road from Joyce Kilmer is desolate and pristine as the road follows the river and has plenty of access, including forestry service bridges and trails. Past the river valley is another section of hill thick forest. The opposite of the river side is hills littered with dense tree forest real close --- My camp site was way below the dirt road so all you could hear is the river or maybe a loud kid exhaust 4-wheeler --- The camp sites are not packed tight. Plenty of privacy space from site to site --- Relatively good wind protection - I had the greatest campsite around. A few other weekenders like it also I found out. No prob as I always hit a new site on anything but a weekend.

Ron, I like the lighter one...more detail, yet still shows the mood of the location.

I wouldn't blow up either. The Tarped stuff (or is it a tent) in the back ground detracts from the photo. You either need to lighten up the background or crop it down to highlight the car.
And get rid of the date imprint.

thx for reply the pic is more of an event history than a pic of just a car in the forest. It is a tent under the clear tarp. Weather was either raining or very cloudy. Temperature in mornings was low 20degF. The pic was taken in late day as I felt that was the best conditions so far and the possibility existed of worse in the near future. thx again

The highlights are blown in the lighter one. I'd start with the darker one and lighten the shadows and play with the saturation, etc. If you want, send me the original file off the CD you got and I'll see what I can do, including removing the date stamp. Hopefully, it's high resolution. If not, can you scan it at high resolution? Sending you a PM...

The original is only 1422x948 at 72dpi. It won't enlarge well. Since you have a negative, your best results will come from having the negative scanned at high resolution, then the image adjusted as necessary digitally. I've been having trouble getting good prints lately, until I found Montclair Photo. Tell them you're a pro and want Steven to print the enlargement (this is a wink-wink thing). You'll have to mail them the negative. My monitor needs to be calibrated, but to me this looks like what I'd go for. If you want the date in there, I'd suggest removing the red stamp and typing in something nice with Photoshop.

Yep.. looks much better than the light pic I posted. The upper reds and greens don't look washed out and the pile of leaves in front of the car look much better. I've been bouncing the different pics on my screen wallpaper. thx very much.
