This reminds me of a story my FIL told me.
After he retired one of the things he did was to put in a productive vegetable garden, fed half the neighbors from it.
He was having problems with something getting in and eating produce, kinda ticked him off so he went a borrowed a live trap, set it out and caught a neighbors cat.
He let it go... next night, a nice opossum was waiting and not happy about it.

He decided to take entrapped opossum out for a drive in the back of his hatchback VW Rabbit out to a nice quiet spot along a local river where he would be far far away from his garden.
He found a nice pull out on the outside of a corner, placed the trap facing away from the road and into the bushes and opened it up.

The opossum ran out took a hard right out toward the street just as a pickup came around the corner and squashed him.

I also remember him laughing and saying, hell- if I'd known how that was going to go I'd have run over him here in my own driveway.
