Our 2014 pilgrimage to Molokai and the St. Damien's Leper Colony - both my son and I graduated from a high school named in his honor:
About to start the hike down the pali cliffs: Next stop, the Leper Colony and Fr Damien's work.

Big family camp from back then.
The ladies needed seating --hence lawn chairs. There were significant numbers of Moms and daughters. That old Chero was a 5 speed stick --4.0 still miss it. The big guy in the photo is now approximately 300 lbs --6.8. Time does .............

Saw this beautifully machined gear lever/handbrake assembly in a Lotus at a recent C&C.

Great shots and narrative about Molokai David!
Access to the leper colony has not been open to the public since the pandemic, I'm hoping it opens and we can go see that area in a month or so! ![]()

I started learning to shoot after Christmas. I'm doing what they call "instinctive" right now, no sight or anything (gap, stringwalking, etc...) just pointing and thinking "I want to hit the bullseye."
I'm only shooting from about 12 yds. Once I improve and get more consistent, I'll move back to 15 and eventually 20yds. I've been shooting "split" (one finger above the arrow on the string, and 2 below the arrow) which is what felt the most natural. Between cold and/or rainy weather and a cold, I ended up taking off 2 weeks. When I got back to it, I was shooting better than ever. For this one, I switched to "three under" so all three fingers are under the arrow. The arrows didn't go where I wanted, but that's to be expected. Changing your fingers on the strings changes where the arrows go (should only be up/down). But I was very happy with the grouping. While ^that day^ (first day back after the break) was mostly very good, it was also a bit of a fluke. I'm switching to 3 under because I like some aspects of it better. It's tough going from shooting reasonably well to shooting much worse and trying to get into a new groove. From today, not bad. I'm seeing consistent improvement after switching to 3 under.
