There is a major clue within this thread, (besides "get a mechanic").

Good point Scott. I forgot that it was a factory option for certain years.

btw, I heard an ad on the radio the other day for a helicopter training school saying there is a shortage of pilots, and come sign up now. Are there really not enough pilots to go around? Is KABC up to 15 birds yet?

terrorist fly helicopters? you'd think all those baggie clothes they wear would be a hazard around the blades of a chopper?

Jag,

The people on this board are good at what they know and are better at what they don't know. It is a shame that this thread has taken an ugly turn. But it is a funny ugly turn. You mentioned that any suggestion would help. So here is my suggestion.

1. Buy an identical car with out the miss.
2. Test both cars to verify the the miss is in just the original car.
3. swap both engines and retest. Still fails?
4. Swap both electrical harnesses. Still fails?
5. Swap fuel tanks and filters and supply lines. still fails?
6. Swap transmissions if not done with engine. still fails?
7. Swap complete front and rear suspensions. still fails?
8. Swap chassis. Still fails?

At this point I am stumped and don't have a clue what the problem is.

Brain fart: Sell the car with the miss to a roockie Porsche want to be owner and keep the good one for yourself. I hope these suggestions help and happy motoring

I disagree with step #6. If the Flangeister was already changed as has been recommended in this thread, then we would have to eliminate the possibility that the trans is causing the miss. Unless, of course, the new car he buys has already had the conversion, then the miss has been eliminated. Correct? Thought so. This is why I will stand by my opinion and recommend the muffler bearing be replaced immediately before additional damage occurs to the Farfrompoopin diaphram.

Just my 4 cents.

Your suggestion is prepostorous! I submit that my trouble shooting methods are sound and are based on common sense and not VooDOO science.

Westy,

I apoligize for calling your work as VOODoo science, I'm sure it is a practical solution to the problem. I don't know what came over me I guess I was caught up in the slash and burn attitude of this Ugly thread.

Dear Sir, I figured out the problem, you need TWO flangiester valves...

One for when you are driving to your mothers house to tell her how horrible everyone has been, and the other one for driving back home.

This one is too funny!!

After a quick "snoop and poop" today over the Irkutz triangle, I had to go for a quick swim and think about the technical solution.

But that's all I did.

Hey wait a minute guy!! Get your beach towel off my plane dammit!!

tsuter, any relation to the x-nhl defenceman with the last name of suter? he played for the blackhawks for years and played his last couple with the sharks. that would be cool if you were. if not well then you're not as cool as you could have been.

Bill, you realize that would be an act of war. don't make us come down to the southern hemisphere.

And anyways, you are correct in principle. You *can* run two Flangeister valves if you run them in series. If you try to run them in parallel though, you suffer from the Wadsworth effect, resulting in a venturi deficit that can cause premature air box wear, as well as male pattern baldness.

You never studied...

Boys, boys, boys. Clearly you're not staying current on the literature. Todd, your analysis is correct, but only if you're living pre-2000. If you'll recall, that was the year that it was shown, conclusively, that they can be run in parallel, but only if you have the high/low pressure cut-off switch installed in the Flaumeister circuit. Always remember this sage advice....never, and I mean never, cut the red wire.

Does this clear up any confusion?
